  9. Looks like a bunch of real hard-core Hot Rodders standing around that car, sipping their Zinfandel . . .

That's cool! Who cares who is standing around it??? You'd rather it see its debut at a keg party??? The fact that it is together and right again is friggin' great, no matter if you actually like the car or not!

    Great work there!

  20. Looks like a blast, for $250 a pop!!!!!

  21. What made people who could care less about Roth and the Orbitron pay $250 for a ticket to see it?

I think I'm going to buy a case of Thunderbird and charge $20 a head to see my car done...

Nice job, glad to see it saved.

Not too sure about the venue though. I'm sure there's too much grease under my fingernails to be allowed in.

Dave Shutton and Jimmy C are RULERS as well! they did a fantastic job of getting everything right.. including the correct TV.

its Awesome to see a Roth car no matter the case...not for 250 tho,, but

I'm glad to see it happen and brought back to life..

It sure looks like they did a great job restoring that car.... and, somehow I like that misfit. I think it looks cool. I also like the red, green and blue lightning concept... off to mars

I don't really get what is so shameful about it, Beau invited 2000 people, mostly his friends and business associates. People need to realize that it was NOT just the unveiling of the Orbitron. It was actually the grand opening for Galpin Auto Sport, a place most HAMBers could care less about (you know, the Pimp my Ride show). They also unveiled a new Ed Newton designed tuner type car with a big stereo and voice controlled everything that will be at the SEMA show, but no one seems to want to mention that. We as hot rod folk only care about the Orbitron, Beau's interests and that party went much further than that.

He must really be a dick to pay for all of the food and have an open bar for that many people. He also hired Camp Freddy to come and play as well, I am sure Slash works cheap too. I would have loved to be there just to see that, but what does that have to do with the Orbitron?? There was also a big charity auction where they auctioned off a bunch of guitars and stuff. I am sure someone that is bitching about a $250 ticket (everyone with an invite got in free) would really have a lot to contribute to the fundraiser wouldn't they?

I suppose if you wanted to feel special and get invited to the party you could have either got involved with the restoration, or bought yourself a new car from Galpin and had it customized at GAS, or maybe you should work for a stereo company, or some other business that has contributed to the business at GAS which was what the party was actually for. He didn't even need to invite ANY hot rod people because they will probably not spend one dime in that store, but he did. Beau is a private guy which Ryan should appreciate and can invite whoever he wants to his open house. Ryan, how many years was it before you let any pictures of yourself be seen on the HAMB anyway??? Ha Ha Ha

The car is 20 times better than it ever was to begin with and there will be plenty of chances for everyone to see it again. It will be at the Detroit autorama from what I am told. Most California cars don't make it that far east, so I don't think that is anything to bitch about.

    Carry on with the hatin'.

Good points Aaron and I can see where you are coming from... Having known Ed a little though, I just don't think this would have gone over well with him at all. Maybe I'm wrong...

To be realistic, none of this is any of my business at all and I should more than likely keep my mouth shut, but I couldn't. I've always felt that historical cars don't belong to their caretakers and that owning a car like the Orbitron (even if it wasn't one of Ed's finest) is a responsibility.

I guess we can't always count on those cars landing in the hands of guys like Ralph, Moriarity, etc...

I am sure the car will be seen a lot more than it has been seen in the last 30 years, well that is unless you were a chronic masturbater in Juarez, Mexico.

It took a guy with deep pockets to restore that car to that state. I think the chrome bill alone was over 30 grand. It needed a "gold chainer" new owner, that is why Michael sold it.

I never knew Ed but I he would have rather the car stayed in Juarez as an ejaculate recepticle. I think this just adds another unique chapter to it's life. ha ha ha
I also think the Orbitron will probably be just as accessible in the new owner's hands as any of the other Roth cars, or Barris cars etc. I think you will see a lot of it this winter.

Personally, I think they should have shown it as found for a year, then restored it and took it back around a second time.
