do you think it will go back to the***** shop for a cruise night just for old times sake? Dumping money into cars is good, it means thats less money those douchebags on wall street are scamming from everyone else.

I totally agree with this. I love to see unrestored stuff no matter how beat it might be. I wanted to do this with my car but got overruled.

3. Aaron...this is the first I heard about the rest of it,made it sound like it was just for the roth car.....now it makes more sense.....no disrespect intended, just seemed a bit over the top......

At what point (if you made it to the show) would you have jumped on stage and do your
best axle rose impression for Slash?

As soon as I had enough Jack and Cokes and the security guard wasn't looking. Of course I would've had to take my shirt off too. I would be the "Fat Axl". ha ha ha

That's probably why I wan't invited. ha ha ha

Parties, schmarties. Anybody who cares about the Roth legacy should be happy about how Beau Boeckmann approached the Orbitron restoration. He brought in several of the guys who originally worked on the car (like Newt and Watson and Bill Carter and Joe Perez) and he couldn't have picked a better guy than Dave Shuten to usher it to completion. If I had the car and an unlimited budget to restore it, I can't imagine doing it differently.

No, it's not Roth's greatest car, but there isn't one with a better folklore, and I think it's pretty cool that they brought it back with a little bit of fanfare. Anything that builds appreciation and excitement about the Roth legacy is good.

Good to see it was saved. I'm anxious to see at Detroit as I've only ever seen it in magazines. Can you just imagine Ed, dressed in top hat and tails, recounting the build as he signs autographs for the masses standing in amazement? Too:cool:!!!

I don't care about the high society shing dig or that people are upset about it. I just like the pics of the car and hope to see more. Dig that interior.

Is the original sbc still in it? Does it run?

Betcha half of those spectators never even heard of Ed Roth before the event.

Now we're going to see Vin Diesel wearing a Ratfink shirt and screaming "NAWSSS"

A friend of mine once had a fantastic idea...We just built this cool chopper named "The Monkey". It was all Chromey, shiney, metalflakey and all that. So, he wants to contact the zoo and quietly roll this chop into the primate cage complete with hidden camera, just to "observe"...BRILLIANT!

Seeing that chop might change a monkey's life. Why, that chimp could be a producer who'll make a film about it or be a bored trust fund baby looking to offload her Pekinese for a furry, pointy conveyance...Exposing that bike to the same bunch of folks who see 'em every day is about as much fun as a screen door on a submarine.

How was that bit of writing Zenor? Don't tell me. Come to think of it, that friend of mine also wanted to do an art installation where he dressed up like a Disco Village Person and hit cadavers from the local college with baseball bats...Where was I?

Hey, guess what, the snazzy people in the pics posted here were the "B" team.

Beau threw a party for Roth's far reaching extended family six weeks ago to offically unveil the Obitron. The food was plentiful and the booze flowed freely. No tickets required. It was at once a celebration of the Orbitron's return and a Roth reunion. All of Ed's son's (and wives) were there. The original builders were there including Watson, Perez, Newt and Carter. It was a veritable mob of Krazy Paint, Kustom, Mad Man, Kulture notables. I turned one way and bumped in to Mike Alexander another and ran into Fritz. Pat Gahnal went by followed by Shuten and his gang of restorers. Literally everyone involved then and now was on hand, along with a few hangers on like me. I was amazed that someone had taken the time to find all these people. I only met him this once, but it was clear to me that Beau knew who mattered in Roth's world. He even brought his mom and dad and kids so he was clearly proud of his new friends. To me it was a warm and sincere evening dedicated to Roth's art and the people who appreciate it most.

Im just happy to see it back around for everyone to see again!

24. Ed definitely would be laughing about it all. He built his cars to blow people's minds. Life for a long time was a big game for Ed. Ed looking down would be saying, you just don't get it do you?
I had a number of heart to hearts with Ed over the years. His old POV would have been, go on, party and make a circus about it. In his latter years his POV on things changed.
I do have to say, debuting the car like this will boost it's value if it hits the BJ stage someday. They just gave it some more history.

Cool video, great job on the rebuild, a piece of history saved, but it's still ugly!

It's great that someone out there is putting equal emphasis on the creators and builders of this machinery. Think of it, most of the time you walk into a car show and see the car. Maybe the owner/new owner is standing around but usually it's just the car with a showcard giving partial credit.

This guy rounded up EVERYBODY he could find that belonged to this thing and put 'em in ONE ROOM at a very popular, highly publicized mainstream event. I counted at least 5 of my all time heroes in attendance. This is the way it should always be man...

At a "Cacklefest" you get to see the Hustler 1 sitting in a show. Then you get to see it thunder past you on 85%, followed by possibly shaking Art Chrisman's hand as he climbs out of the !@#$in' thing on the dragstrip.

Newt Newton designed the car. He was THERE. Larry Watson and Bill Carter were THERE. Robert Williams, THERE....the entire crew that restored the ORBITRON were THERE from paint strippers to wet sanders along with 2500 or so LUCKY !@#$%%$#@'s. BEAUTIFUL.

I just can't state how badass this was. THANKS.

Let's hope the "Roth" logo doesn't become as big of a joke as the "Von Dutch" logo did. It would be sad to see people running around in shirts with a logo they think is for David Lee ROTH's new band....

Looks like Ozzy was there to (for real!) according to Perez Hilton...

Do not adjust your monitor! What you are seeing is not an illusion!
It's the rarely seen eldest Osbourne child, Aimee!
The kids were all together to support dad Ozzy at the opening of Galpin Auto Sports, hosted by pops.
Aimee was with her sister Kelly and Kelly's swoon-inducing model boyfriend, Luke Worell.
Nice to see Aimee out and not trapped in the dungeon!
