I had a fellow email me today, after reading my thread on "How to build an early hotrod chassis". He wants to know where he can buy a new (repop) transverse leaf spring for a model A or 32 Ford. I don't know. I have bought many front transverse springs over the years, both reversed eye and stock, but I have never seen a vendor for rear transverse springs. Does anybody know of a source for these?---Brian
as far a i know , no one is making a stock style `32 ford curved spring. stock Model A (high arch)springs are available from places like Synder's , Bratton's etc . Posies sells a Model A spring that has reversed eyes he may want to consider the spring that Pete & Jakes uses in their rear transverse kits , it's patterned after a `40 front spring
Posies makes everything...model A, curved '32-'34, etc. Only problem is they are all reversed eye. If you want a standard eye, it will be "6-8 weeks". Edit...on their website concerning the '32-'34 springs... "****Currently we are in the process of updating and constructing new tooling for our 1932-34 Ford compound curve spring, part #32-34R. Our current estimate of availibility will be March 2008. Contrary to internet rumors, we still offer this spring. ****"
For singles, stock or dropped, he may want to try http://a-springs.com/products.html. I got my main rear spring from Travis, using the rest of a stock one I had.
Atlas Spring is altering mine but they told me they could make me a new main leaf if I needed it. Atlas Spring 127 4th ave city of industry, Ca. 91746 (626) 333-7373, ask for Fernando.
