I've been hitting the Springfied, MO swap meet every year for 12 years hoping to find nice rechromed '53 Chevy bumpers. No luck. (Bumper Boyz are always there and I'm always tempted, but many many people say avoid them and my Dad had a bad experience with them years ago.)
I've also searched eBay but don't want to piece them together from different sellers because the chrome never matches.

I'm willing to buy the repops if necessary but I'd rather spend a bit more money for nicer chrome.

I do NOT want my current bumpers plated, I want to exchange them or buy rechromed ones outright. Anyplace sell them?

I just talked to them; they don't have any in stock and don't expect to. Bummed.

If the price is right ship yours in and have them done. The turn around time shouldn't be that bad or wait until later in the year when you aren't planning on driving the car as much and can let it sit for a couple of weeks.

In this area there is/was a guy who delivers and picks up bumpers for a chrome shop to and from body shops on a regular basis. I used to see him running down the road all the time with a batch of fresh bumpers in the rack on the back of his pickup and damaged or core bumpers in the back of the truck that he had picked up. There might be such a service in that area.

Buy a fair set at a swap meet and sent them to a place you trust. The less rust on them the cheaper it will be to get them done. That way maybe the guy who plates them will stand behind his work.

That's a pretty good idea, although I haven't seen any decent used ones for sale either. But I have a better shot at finding some. I think that's my new Plan B.
