I am getting sticker shock at Coker and the other specialty houses. Anyone found a secret place to get 17" tires that will fit a 34 Ford Wire Wheel? Blackwalls are fine, Whitewalls preferred. THANKS!
I'm sorry, what are Lesters? Anyone know if I can cross over to radials? I think the width of the rim is 5.5" Maybe 225/75/17 truck tires?
I have a set of 215/65R17 Goodyear Assurances. half tread left, off my 2005 Dodge Magnum, asymetrical and noisy as hell. Be happy to mail them to you for the postage plus $25 for my time and trouble, or come get em.
Oh God, now you've done it. I asked about this same thing about white walls and was told I'm a cheap idiot and if I can't afford the hobby I should get out of it. Really friendly advice coming on this one I'm sure.
Thanks for the offer. I'm going to go new or barely used for now. Looking to gather information on what fits on a 34 Ford wire rim.
Can't be any worse than tthe comments at the Ford Barn when I asked about fitting a fan to my 36 conversion waterpump on my Banger.......
Lesters are a brand name. I'm not really sure of the price but, probably cheaper than Firestones. No pie crust though.. If I remember, 34 wheels are 3-1/4" or 3-1/2" wide. I don't feel like going out to measure too cold and windy tonight. Take some time before you decide what tires you buy. It's winter, you won't be doing much driving I imagine. Patience is a virtue with this type of stuff. I saw your car this summer in NJ. You have a "hop up" with a T body, Model A engine, frame and 34 wire wheels. Keep it looking right with some bias plys. You should run tubes with those wheels anyway.
I just bought a set of Hercules tires for my '62 Hawk. Bought them a few blocks from the house and paid "out the door" for less than what the tires alone cost from the "classic name dealers". In your area: http://www.herculestire.com/dealer-locations.aspx?address=08723
Miller tire is an option, but again not real cheap after you factor in shipping... Looks like Hercules has some shops in your area though, might be an option. I'm in the same boat trying to find a pair for my '33...
i am going lesters, but that is my name, so it helps in the decision, save you about $60+ per tire over a coker...
You might have found some place by now, but if not I'd recommend this place: http://simpletire.com/ They only show two options for 7.50-17 though... I can say that they're a good vendor, and seem to have the lowest prices I've seen. I just ordered a pair of 7.50-16 tires from them and got them in under a week... They also give you tracking numbers so you know when they'll arrive.
