I am looking for 5/8 rh and left hand thread rod ends with nylon bushings and a 1/2 hole. The only ones I have found are at Speedway and they are Stainless. I don't need stainless and I deffanitly don't want to spend $13 a piece for them. Any body know where I could get some.
I think MAS in Minneapolis has what you need. If they do, I need some too. Here's their phone no....(651) 644-6811 There's a Canadian outfit selling them on eBay....but they're $20 apiece. Here's another possibility : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34200&item=2464063672
Not to put too fine a point on it, but 4 links are drag racing stuff like in the Chris Alston Chassisworks catalog and 4 bars are street rod stuff. Even if they all look alike. Anyway, make your own for really cheap. The ones you're describing are the same size as the ones I made for my 31 on 32 rails roadster. You'll need 1 3/8" OD tubing in .120 wall thickness. 5/8" NF bolts. 5/8" NF jam nuts - which are simply half thickness nuts. A way to cut the tubing ends square. A way to machine or grind the hex round on the bolts. Plus some welding. Take a look at the pic below. It shows a couple of disassembled 4 bar ends at the upper left of all the stuff. Shown are the rounded head bolts ready for welding as well as the 1 3/8" rings. Energy Suspension has polyurethane bushings to fit this size. The tall thick wall tubes are 1" OD by 1/2" hole crush tubes that get welded into the frame so as to receive the 4 bar ends. Along with a home-made under body fuel block that was used to accept two #6 fuel lines from the tank and send a #8 fuel line forward.
Not sure if you are going to find them cheaper than $13 but Art Morrison makes some really nice stuff. I have a 4 bar kit from them I am using on my truck. http://www.artmorrison.com SuicideDoors.com also sells some nice stuff but his phone is always busy. Got a hold of him by email and he said the wait time was about 2 weeks. Making your own would be cool if you have the time and a good welder.
Thanks guys. I would like to make them myself but I am not that confident in my welding skills to do it, especial when I think I should be able to get them for around $10 buck a piece. I am putting together my own liks using the same DOM tubin you mentioned.
I know what you mean about Jason (Suicidedoors) phone always being buisy. I have delt with him in the past. He's a hard guy to get ahold of but the quality of his work and his prices are hard to beet.
