I am retro fitting a 700r4 behind my '60 394 olds and am in need of think, strong, rubber or urethane pads for my custom mounts (rectangular). I have some trans mounting pads that are about 1/2 inch thick, but wanted something thicker. Does anyone have a source for this stuff?

Go to the big truck supply house. They have rubber pads for mounting heavy stuff.
    I've been using: Euclid part # E1330 about 5" x5" X1" thick.
Cut them with a sharp knife, and make you a hole puncher out of a 1/2" pipe nipple.

Energy suspension has a race duty poly trans mount that is pretty thick and can be spaced down from the tranny. I grabbed one at AutoZone for about $20. Two bolts on the bottom rather than a single, interlocking plates to prevent tear out.

Hey Charlie - what/where is MacMaster? I found MacMaster-Carr with a boat load of products - is that is it, what is it listed under?

MSC which is Manhatten Supply Co also has material shapes/stock. You can also buy casting urethane - Google; Freeman supply, they have a great DVD on working with molds etc.

Thanks RotorFlap ;-) I went to MSC and found exactly what I needed. PERFECT!

Also thanks Noisey, I used your hole punch method last night and it worked like a champ. Took a copper pipe, sharpened the end a bit with a file and punched a perfect hole using a large hammer and block of wood. I found a coil spring spacer that was close to what i was looking for, but was a great tester.
