I found a link at nambla.com. no...but seriously, my motorcyle plate says JLOPY and a dude at a quickie mart or something told me about it when he saw my license plate. Been diggin' it since.

I heard of JJ while I was in line for something at PASO 2005. I went home and signed up right away.
Ever since then, I get in trouble at least once a week for being on so long. Girlfriend is convinced HAMB is some kind of underground PORN site.

  4. I'd post the odd picture on the "UK Ducati Monster" forum from shows over here when I first moved here from England in 2002, one of the members (who lives in Daytona) told me that his brother's girlfriends mothers sisters aunt (summat like that anyway) was into old cars & spent a lot of time on this "old car forum"

So, I checked it out & lo & behold....still here...

Oh, he's finally joined now too, he's building a belly tanker!

Man, no joke it was like 10 years ago when I was 18. I just saw my first Model A rod (the first one that ignited the spark) on the 605 freeway in 1996. I knew right away that I had to draw it but needed pictures. I was new to the net but found some pics on this thing called The Jalopy Journal. I found a crapload of pics of coupes, roadsters, sedans.... I took two pics off the site to use and painted two murals on my bedroom walls- a 32 roadster and a chopped black coupe from England. Ryan had A LOT of pics of cars from England....

Ryan, if youre reading this, I thought you were a 50 year old Beatnik because of all the picture descriptions were done in that manner: "This c-dan sitting in the weeds is owned by a cat across the pond. Too cool, man. Too Cool."

I remember the links to the Bench Rodding and Tool Box, and I swear seeing the site before the Racing Slick with "Jalopy Journal" on it.

A friend sent me an email and said there was something about my Finkosel on the "HAMB" . What the hell is that? He sent me a link. I checked it out and then read a post from Germ. I lurked for a year till I understood the landscape and had the balls to post anything.

I was referred here by my pal Flat-Top Bob. Jumped right in, and had 50 posts before I did an intro......

Sure makes having high-speed internet worthwhile.

around the turn of the Century..I had moved, and finally got in a position to plug my compooter in, searched "hot rods" ,this was before Google?, and the journal came up..I believe the first page logo was a WW tire and mag wheel coming out of a ball of flame?..was working more than full-time at my shop in S.A. and didn't really have any extra time above advertising..now that I see how informative the HAMB is I can't put it down, should be in the garage....

Primer Nationals my friend was looking at a chopped shoebox like his and asked the guy how he did his window trim and he said he found all the info on the HAMB. Went home and spent 3 days reading non stop and kicked myself for not finding this earlier.

There is something to be said here, the very fact that this website is so world wide is a great accomplishment. I guess my point is that where ever i go, somewhere there is always someone who can relate to me. Just look at where everyone is from, places I wouldnt even be able to visit or vacation to are all at my finger tips. I suppose that most people heard or saw this searching on the internet, something we all do but now i get on the internet and it has a purpose, to see what happened on a certain thread or maybe there might be a part i need or one of my buddies need and of course to sell some of my pinstriping. I geuss what I'm saying is I would have lost my inspiration to build, to paint, to live if i hadn't found j.j.

I read an article about the Throttlers in Hot Rod magazine and googled on "rat rod".

Kind of funny considering that "rat rod" is such a touchy subject on this board.:D

I feel the same way about Jesse James.... ha ha

I found this site while doing a search for ideas/information for my 1950 Ford that I bought from BobBleed way back when.... I can't even begin to explain how much I've learned from this site, not to mention friends I've made, etc...

Meatball's a good friend of mine, told me about it a while back. Introduced me to Metalshapes at a car show last fall. Just took me a couple of months to follow through. Already getting good info for my stuff, plus I've been able to be helpful in return as well.

HAMB.... not as good as sex, but way better than myspace! :D

I found a link to the J/J through another site in '99. I bookmarked it and checked out the cool stuff Ryan had posted every now and then. But I really didn't check out the HAMB until a couple of years ago when I was beginning to get ODed reading about muscle cars and drag racing. I loved the trad rods and customs you guys and gals were building, so I did a lot of lurking. After reading Ryan's "greeting", I was hesitant about joining, but what the hell, I've been flamed before...:) I've made some good online friends, drug others over to check it out because this is the BEST hot rod board. While I'll probably never build a true traditional rod....the old race cars are really my deal, I've found plenty of tips to help 'customize' my beater '64 Ford.

    Long live the HAMB!

I saw an article in R&C (I think) showing Ryan's '38 coupe. The article referenced his Jalopy Journal.

I found it doing a yahoo search. It popped up, I checked out Jalopy Journal every now and again for a long while but then one day I decided to join the HAMB because of Skullcracker and FatLucky recommending it a couple years ago....and I'm still here.

    Big thanks to Ryan!!!
