The junk yard...I sent it there. I had put a 383 torqueflite in it but I wanted to shift gears. I found a 63 Pontiac Catalina 389 4spd. at a used car lot. I yanked the Mopar drive train and sent the body to the junk yard. This picture is the only one that I've seen that is identical to my first car in all these years...of course mine had a green RF fender after a mishap with a parked car.
30 years ago, haha, my tire went flat and I put no plate on it, no money, so the "man" took it and put it in the smack flat machine, it's now a toaster in a ka bab shop in India.
sold my first car , this 1930 ford 4-door sedan in 1971 to a local TV personality. some of you older Minnesota guys may recognize him . after he died in 2002 , there was a 1930 ford sedan listed on the estate sale
Still have mine its a 76 camaro rs drove it till 2002 then made it a drag car. After hearing all the stories my dad and uncle tell about there first cars I'll never sell it.
first hot rod was a 41 chevy coupe w/ 425 olds, it was in a junk yard in AZ after hitting a bridge.(really hard) late 70's
53 Dodge down in the back woods, mostly rusted out with the proverbial tree growing up through it. Its a race to see what totally disappears first .......Me of the car
My first car was a 47 4 door Ford. I still have it. It sits in a freinds field. I keep saying I'm gonna bring it home. I better do it soon I'm 59 now and drove it ih High School. If only that car could talk, I might still be jail. Lots of good memorys. Steve
my first car was a 47 Merc coupe - owned it a whole year and then traded it to a guy from Walla Walla for a 51 Ford conv with a 331 Caddy that he couldn't get to run right. I could and did, and that shoebox ragtop was a lot more fun than the Merc. dj
where did it go? went to my back yard for 13 years, then to storage for 3 years, then to my shop where I tore it all apart and redid a bunch of stuff. had it 34 years, some day I'll finish it.
Dad sold mine when I went to college in colorado , he said how are you going to drive a car with no heat, no side windows, no wipers. bought me a Simca???????? When I came home he had sold the 49 dodge. tried to look it up and founf it had been sent to the big crusher in the sky.
My first was sold to some lady, she wrecked it a few months later. I watched it deteriorate behind their fence for a couple of years. My next was sold to a kid, it took him 2 years to get the paint & body all done up and replace the bad transmission...on his first night out, he rolled it 6 times, tore the car in half, and lost his life. I've only bought 1 vehicle back after selling it, and that's my grandfathers F-250 that he gave me a few years back. I sold it because I didn't need it shortly after. I bought it back this time last year and wont ever sell it again.
Not sure. It was a 59 chevy biscayne. 235 and a 3 on the tree. I was 15 years old (mid 1990s). I bought it from my cousins old boss, who owned a small car lot in Silver City, NM. Drove it back to Yuma, AZ. Did a few things to it over the next couple years, then sold it to a marine. Later the day he bought it, we saw him struggling to drive it. Guess he wasn't used to a stick. I had put a deposit on a 56 pontiac, 2 door star chief. The deal was for the guy to hold the pontiac till I sold my chevy. The day I got the chevy sold, my brother asked if I had seen them towing the pontiac away. They sold it out from under me! I was bummed, but got over it, sorta. If I found the car today, I'd love to buy it back. The "other" first car. The one I did the most work on, and regret selling even more. It was a 68 chevelle. It was a real rust bucket when I bought it. When I sold it, basically everything was done except paint. I had replaced almost all the body panels, had a healthy 350 in it, disc brakes, TH350 trans, etc. It was a nice street car. I sold it to a guy from Phoenix who from what I've heard, painted it, did some street rod style upgrades to the interior and dropped a 427, 4 speed, and 9 inch in it. Then sold it at auction. Last I heard it was in WA and up for sale again, for around 40k.
Mine's in the parking lot here at work. Driven daily year round for fifty years, so far. Been T-boned and into two different bridges in the winter but easy to fix.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371150 Got it when I was 11 . . . The whole basket case came home on a snowmobile trailer. And is now in Titus' shop after 22 years of ownership . . .
Still have mine...1964 Ford...Parents bought it new in '64...Sold it in '72...I was able to get it back in '76 and it won't be sold again.
My first was a '56 Pontiac star chief 4dr. hardtop. It was given to me by my Moms boss. I had it for 18 months then wrecked it. It went to the local junk yard where I would visit it a couple of times, then it dissapeared. N.N.
My first car was a 68 800a international scout, and its still in the field it broke down in 21 years ago. I got stuck in the middle of a big mud puddle, threw it in four low and punched it. Blew a big hole in the front pumpkin. I walked home and never went back for it. Last I heard it was still in the field.
My best friend in high school tells me that he sees it about once every 5 yrs in my hometown, so it's a least in the area where I grew up. A lot of memories in that car, I miss it...
My first car was a 1971 R/T Challenger 383 mag car, while moving to live with my mom when I was 16 from my dads house he decided to sell it, A spite thing I guess, I found out who had it and went to see if I could buy it back he had totaled it on Topeka Blvd in a drag race in front of White Lakes Mall, a very popular hang out in the early 80's for drag racing. Ive been on the hunt for a twin the last couple years.
My first car was a 1963 Ford Falcon 6 cylinder three speed, who know where it is, but my first hot rod was a '55 chevy 2d hardtop I bought from a buddy when I was 18 in 1978. Did it all, '64 327, turbo 350, paint, upholstery was a great car...at least I thought so. It was originally sold at community chevrolet in Las Vegas and I was the 4th owner. Well I sold it to a gut in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1986 and was told he still has it. Regretted selling to this day. My first from scratch build was a '23 T Bucket I built in 1987, unfortunately, I got jacked up by DMV a few years later since I used one of those NY titles that you could buy at the time. Numerous guys here lost titles and had legal threats from DMV if we didn't surrender them. Some guys got there cars seized by DMV so I traded the car for a 1977 Jaguar converted with a 30 chevy and turbo 350. Stayed away from hotrods until my kids grew up and am now neck deep in them again. Anyway, I have looked for the T and have not been able to track it down.
My 1st car was a '64 Malibu, 100$ P.O.S. bought & sold in mid 70s. Saw it once afterwards, behind a tow truck a couple years later.
Not sure, think its probably still out behind the back garage at my dads house, right where I left it after I pulled the small-block ford out of it. Goddam ugly, death trap POS...
My first car at 14 was a 40 Chev 2dr sedan. It had a small block, 53 chev front end, 57 chev rear. It was stock bodied, painted burgandy, a real fun car for high school and into college. I sold it to a local guy that had it, severely chopped , molded the front and rear fenders, hinged the decklid sideways, hinged the hood at the front, put the headlights behind the grill, molded the running boards, painted it porsche red with baby moons. For the late 80's it was out there. I think it is on the East Coast somewhere?? Hey this is my 1000th post.....
My first truck was my fathers old truck.1970 Chev 1/2 ton lb 350/350 Drove it all through high school, then converted it to 4x4,tilt front end,B&M blower,,,,,,drove it for 5 to 6 years. It started needing work And my 1st son was on the way,,,,,,,yeah this story has been told before. Except I didnt sell it it went into storage and I bought a new truck' Anyway ,,now my son wants it so it looks like I will be fixin it up after all !!!
