    Hey guys,

My dad and I are fixing up our '57 Buick Special 40. I can't seem to find any aftermarket shocks that we can use, and we really need 'em! Can someone point some out to me? Thank you!

    Thanks!

Which shocks in particular? How do I know what'll work? Their descriptions seem vague, but I could just be looking at the wrong pages.

  4. The '57 I took some front end pieces off today had just a regular tube shock with a through-bolt mount on top. Reminded me of some I was given for 73-77 Gran Prix and Monte Carlo (and others) but shorter and smaller around. I would take the old one to a place like Advance Auto or Napa and see if they could match it up. Probably save some money that way - or ask the guys on the AACA Buick forums -

I got the last set for mine from CarQuest....

  6. First set of shocks I ever ordered for my Chevy came from Chevsofthe40s...in Napa boxes.

Do what I did with my 60 LeSabre. Take one to the parts shop and commence browsing. I ended up with some shocks originally for a Big Block Gen1 Camaro/Firechicken. $12 a piece. They work fine.

Yeah, that'll probably be what we do. My dad's going to take 'em off today to check the size and such, and take them down to the local auto shop(s) to find something we can use.
