I prefer 32 un a Model A. It is up to you. Kevin Silva built a nice A on an A frame that is featured in a couple threads here.
In these kind of times. People are hurting financially and the hobbies are the first things to go. I would definitly look around for a project car that someone is bailing on and you'll end up with a goos deal and be ahead of the game in the construction part of it.
Easier to use an A frame, or build a 2 x 4 rect tube copy of an A frame. Depends upon your welding/fab skills and end of project desires. An "A" on '32 is nice for an open wheeled type, as the frame will add the lower body area style. But a fair amount of body mods, or some pinch of the frame etc. are considered. Stock height A frame or channeling the height of the frame perhaps. Look at as many examples as you can! HAMBAndy's and BrianAngus's threads are helpful too.
For a project, a complete car the cost is up front, but the later investment will be minimized, especially if you go with original brakes, etc. My vision of a Model A Hot Rod is simple, a coupe or roadster, Take a look at this Model A Sports Coupe with rumble seat. I would hop up that 4-banger and have fun! Visualize it without fenders, lowered on 15" steelies on the front, 16" on the back, mild lowering of the chassis with reversed eyes on the springs, without splitting the bones unless going with a different motor. And of course a mild top chop. I haven't figured out how to work photo-chop, but anybody?
Well after a lot of thought and searching we have decided to build a 50 Merc 2 door. (my dream car) I also have a daughter and it's a little more practical then the Model A if we want to go anywhere. We found a pretty solid car with a title. I'm more familiar with this type of build. We are going to have it chopped and we will try the rest. My son and I are stoked!
