all your shit. I have my business license, although i dont have my shop anymore. I never really bought things in large quantaties. But now that im going to re open my shop here in the next few months. Im trying to find some wholesale distributors and/or just cheap places to buy things from. general shop tools lifts/jacks/compressors/hoses/reels/saftey glasses you get the idea, all that good stuff. body work tools/supplies sand paper (da rolls, air file rolls) masking tape/paper, bondo spreaders, gloves, coveralls, respirator cartdridges even paint booths? or powder coat booths. metal working stuff both industrial and the small stuff too brakes/sheers/rolls/beadrollers/punches. grinding wheels, flap wheels, roloc discs, grinding sheilds, just in general. wheres a good place to get your shit at, with or with out a business license. theres a lot of professionals on here. I think this is a good thread, i searched but didnt really find anything, but im not very good at the search function.
i steal mine when the boss aint looking. he thinks i have a naturally big bulge in my trousers. go to your local paint supply.they'll be glad to get you rockin with their supply chain...
I'd think with the economy the way it is right now I would look for a good auction for the big ticket items. As for the paint supply stuff any local paint vendor will be glad to send a rep over and set up an account for the consumables...then they deliver so you never even have to leave the shop!
look fror online auction houses in your area that sell off business, I find lot of my woodworking tools that way. Thereare also used tool places in most big cities that sell off business equipment for retired owners, ect.
thanks guys, i only really know of 1 used tool place in tucson, called kents, i get some stuff in there, but a lot of the time i dont feel like its much of a bargin. Lots of construction tools. I dont even know how/where to go about looking for an auction. any ideas for that? thanks
cummins comes around every few months and sets up for a day with their cheap junk. But things like creepers, jack stands, hoses, hammers, lights, etc. don't need to be top quality. Their prices are good and the selection is broad.
This thread wins the spelling challenge! Craigslist is great, hit or miss though. Or should I say thog.
Google HGR cleveland ohio In cleveland there is a place called HGR,they have a large website and are also on ebay. I dont know if they have other outlets. They specialize in liquidating equipment. By far the best place to go and equip a shop or garage. Everything you could ever want is there and on the cheap. (realatively cheap 500 gs for a cnc machine aint cheap unless your looking to spend 1.3 on the same thing else where.) Have a look.
who the fuck cares how you spell, its the internet, im not taking any tests, i dont spell check cause it dont matter, get over it.
sweeeet .. hey do a google search there are tons of places to buy shit on the net.. body shop supply's i remember crash.com or sumpin like that for cheap stuff but they are out there... 3m and norton stuff aint cheap but the shit works much better than the mirka and other stuff (sanding disks).. I dont like to fuck around i like to sand and get the job done.. Tools and everything else Google again.. the deals are out there . I think i bought some shit from eastwood 20 years ago and it was over priced then .. They dont make the shit ! Dave
Most newspapers have a classified section for auctions--we get a whole dedicated page in Indy, but auctions are a way of life in the Midwest. At least a way of my life. If not, look in the yellow pages for auctioneers, sidestep the places that specialize in fine art and heavy construction equipment, and let your fingers do the walking. The NAA Nat'l Auctioneer's Assn has an auctioneer directory. Google is your friend there. Remember, auctioneers are trying to find you too, they want customers, get on their wavelength. I've done very well at auctions of garages that went under, same of machine shops. I see Bridgeports going so low it'd make you cry. And don't forget pawn shops. Pawn shops are about half used tools here.
re: spelling people that cannot see you or hear you cannot judge you by your appearance or the words you speak. We must make our assumptions based on how you seem to be willing to present yourself here. I know that from time to time I have made a faux pas or two - phonetically typing a homonym, bad typos, etc. But truly, those who say they "don't care" are segmented into a category reserved for those who have vegetable soup spilled on their inside-out t-shirt, or an inability to express themselves either in print or aloud without the dissappointing sprinkling of crudity and epithets in their deliveries. I never met anyone that was tougher because they could curse. We can all use offensive language - those that do seem to be titillated by their own crudity. It's more demonstrative to use the idiom of the realm to its fullest and a good wordsmith is always more interesting to listen to than someone that delights in utterances typical of a guttersnipe. As to spelling - it's been my experience that with the exception of certain neurological disorders (dyslexia for example), most folks that spell poorly just don't read enough, and are defensive about it to the extent of making excuses about how they "don't care" or it "doesn't make any difference". Take pride in how you present yourself, and if you work at it, you can become an overbearing, pompous, polysyllabic, sesquipedalian jerk like me. dj
always had good luck with gregsmithequipment. bought many lifts and shop equipment from him over the past ten years.
Kent's ain't cheap, thats for sure. I'd be looking in Craigslist and the newspaper. What do you need? where in Tucson are you setting up shop? Also, for bodywork and paint supplies, I use Finishmaster. Set up an account, they deliver, and your inventory stays fresh.
finish master is also very expensive. Ive been using rays auto body on the south side for all my paint/pearls/flakes and adams paint and body on the north west for my spreaders, paper, bondo and the likes. They are far more reasonable than finish master. Right now im in the process of finding the right property. But im buying up all the tools i need now so that all i have to do is move in and ready to start work and make some money back. Looking mainly on the west side of town. Found a good spot right by 22nd and campbell put in a lowball over because i think the buildings over priced so we will see what happens. I tried the business thing once and failed miserablly, Now ive got more money, and no shady business partners to worry about. So im going to give it another go. And hopefully all works out to my advantage this time and i dont get robbed again. as for what i need at least 1 lift, preferably a 2 post 12k lb nice drill press nice vertical band saw shear/roll/brake and a plate sheer would be nice for the right price. Id like to eventually have a paint booth too, theres a guy sellin one on clist right now for 3500 bucks. we will see how things go. I want a lot of things and only need some. I need a roll and sheer. brake would just be nice.
I am not a professional and I only work on my own stuff in my own garage so if it is cheap and will do the job that is usually what I buy. Try harborfreight.com We have one locally but they are online also.maybe this will help
a buy some stuff from harbor freight. Stuff i dont use a lot because if you use it a lot it tends to break. they have probably given me like 10 right angle grinders. finally got some makita ones about a year ago and they still work great.
