American Metals yard on Broadway in Mesa, AZ. They buy s**** metal of all kinds and sell new steel as well. They have s**** stuff at the door to the new steel sales office where the pieces are normally $0.45 a pound, but are on sale now for $0.35 a pound. If I need longer pieces I look in the remnants stack for what I need. A piece cut from a remnant is cheaper than from a full 20 ft. stick.

I usually check the s**** rack and the remnant stack once a week. I keep a list of the steel I need for different projects and if they have an item on the list, I get it. A couple of weeks ago they had a 12" x 18" x 1/2" thick piece of plate which is just the right size for the disk sander I'm making from av8's old American Rodder article. $0.35 a pound is cheap. I usually have several project on the list for which to buy.
