Thank you every one. I love the stories. I just need to live as long as I can and enjoy the things I love. Family , friends and cars. In that order

I've always valued objects that have been in the family for years... Hell I've got my G.G.Grandmothers old wash stand sitting here right beside me, along with my grandmothers desk from when she was a kid, a foot pedal operated sewing machine, and a bunch of other family relics of years gone by.... and where I truely hope my boys will take care of them and keep them in the family it's realy hard to tell if they, or their offspring will... or there kids, kids, kids will..... unfortunately someone, somewhere down the line will not have to same value that we do now.... it's so sad to say, but it's the truth...

And when it comes to cars... I have the car I rode home in from the hospital when I was born... and where that might actually mean something to my boys, it probably wont to their grandkids, or great grandkids.....

Man... I've totally depressed myself now... :(

Well JB. All the material things we love. Will just be there for some one else when we are gone. It was that way when we lost are older family members. It is not a bummer, but as long as we appreciate the things we love. Thank you for your post.

But you never know... None of my three were interested in the cars stuff at all. Then my son wanted to race so we got into quarter midgets. That has kind of run its course but then my daughter (who turns 16 in August) starts thinking about cars. I figure she wants a tuner type car, or something modern. What does she request? 'Something not everyone else will have... So we've got an older mustang for her. Then my son who is 14 and pretty much only a computer/gamer kid asks if he can help me work on my 67 mustang this summer. Of course he can...

So I guess things can change at any time. 6 months ago I'd pretty much given up on my kids wanting anything to do with cars, and now all three are showing interest. Oh and the youngest, the quarter midget racer, he wants a 55 chevy truck... we'll see... I have to build 3 cars in 5 years, plus my racing and my mustang... Gonna be busy :)

My wife and I have talked about my cars in the future...I always thought they would be enjoyed by my family, but not one of them could care less for my old hot rods!!! Kind of blows me away with their lack of vision, and it's kind of sad, because they have been such an inspiring & enjoyable part of mine and their lives. Maybe I should
donate them to some "down on his luck'' kid who never had a chance to build something...it's really not about 'the money' aspect, but just the years putting it all together, and to think they would just end up neglected and eventually the crusher...terrible thought indeed!....I would love to see the hobby continue in spite of 'modern' debates to forget the past.
