Looking back thru the pages of this forum I see many builds that were started, and some well on their way.......only to fall silent and fade away.
Ya I know, other priorities and life in general gets in the way.
Hopefully those builders can give us an update or at least check in?

Also thanks to those guys that keep their build thread alive on here!
Hopefully we can keep this group alive....many other social groups on the hamb have completely died

  4. Well, let's see, a while back the owner of this forum declared war on us by shutting down the COE picture thread. At that time I took my marbles (build thread and all posted pictures) and went home. At the urging of other members, I returned and have posted a few threads here in the group of my progress on the Autocar. (but no build thread per se) For the past couple months and until spring the Autocar is on hiatus in the back shed, because of work required on other things around the home 40.

  5. “I’m feeling much better, actually”

Funny- I said that last night at work. Of course, since I work mostly with people half my age, no one knew/got it. Making myself smile I suppose should be my top priority and I succeeded briefly.

As long as we get to quote Monty Python here in our dark corner of the H.A.M.B., anyone watch Fawlty Towers?

  6. Speaking of "half your age," Last night I was in a grocery store and they were giving out shots of some wine they were hawking. I told the 30 something girl that I still preferred Boones Farm and of course it went right over her head. I tried to explain hippies and kool-aid wine and finally gave up and told her she was 30 years too young to know what good times really were. The blank look on her face was precious!

  7. One of my jobs is being a winemaker- she better learn up, cause we get lots of comments in the tasting room about Boone’s and Annie Greenspring.

I'm still here, although I get really frustrated with attempting to post pictures. Fawlty Towers is one of my all time British comedies, just brilliant.

I get confused by Lexcoe and Verde's avatars.

Posting pics used to be a challenge.. You had to put them in your album then take the link from there for the actual post. But, I think that Upload A File ****on right down there -->> works fine now too.

Staying exciting and proceeding forward on a long term project can be tough. I'm at the 7 year mark now and without the excitement of being able to drive the truck as well as the inspiring input from this group, it might be parked out back and ignored by now. It's my first build of this magnitude and I continually find I need to slice the work up into manageable pieces and ignore the rest to keep moving. I think if I stopped to consider the ENTIRE project at once..... "parked out back"....

You guys are forgetting MD 20/20.

  11. I was going to mention m/d but I thought I may out myself as not as, shall we say mature(?) as some other posters. I was young in school and started college when I was 17. Bodega down the street from my apartment (West Seattle) only sold MD20 20 and didn’t seem concerned with checking ids. The only reminiscing about it is being able to buy it- I knew it was awful even then.
Well, enough screwing around. I’m headed out to do some unbolting on my truck.

Boone Farms........was like soda pop! Good stuff!

Guess I shouldn't complain about those old build threads too much....just went and looked at mine. I see all of the pics are gone, thanks photobucket! Will try to replace them as I can.

Its been a couple really ****ty years for me. Lost job, almost lost a kid, but enough excuses. Was in the shop already for a couple hours today. Going back after lunch. If I don't find work soon. I will need somewhere to live, so I better get the "Lumber Wagon" done.

  21. Buddy of mine back in the day would mix 2 quarts of Ripple and 1 quart of cheap brandy together in a gallon jug and keep it in the fridge, supposedly, it would loosen up the ladies a bit. Holding their head while the puked in the toilet seemed to kill the mood for me.
Then there was the guy that swapped the sacramental wine at church for MD20/20. Didn't get anyone drunk, but the priest had big eyes after he finished off the chalice.

  22. Ok. As long as there’s no coe action and we still are doing this— I live in a wi*****wing region (am a professional winemaker now) and some of my folks best friends were in the business. One in particular made a wine called Port. It’s made by fortifying the fermenting g****s with high proof brandy. 196 proof brandy. Basically the alcohol at that level is toxic to the yeast and fermentation stops, leaving the wine sweet but with enough alcohol to stabilize it.
So— parents on vacation and come home to a scene they described as reminiscent of “Jonestown”. One of the kids had dipped into a 55 gallon barrel of 196 proof and mixed it with Sunny Delight. Hot summer day and a bunch of kids drinking sweet orange everclear and those kids were ****tered everywhere across the lawn, floor of the house, so drunk no one could even walk. Surprised that guy can sit to this day after the *** whippin’ administered.

My treat in high school was Thunder Bird. Combo that with swisher sweet cigars and you were sure to throw up by the end of the Friday night!

Just the other day I resolved to give my COE a little love each night I am out in the Mancave. Yesterday I welded up the 8 holes in the p***enger door that were made to mount the big mirror. Next time I mix up some primer for my F 100 project I will squirt out at least one body panel. If I keep up with this I will have something before the kids graduate from high school!

  26. During my 15 year Autocar project, I've also suc***bed to the Home Remodel. Mine was just a bathroom, a kitchen and new floors in several rooms. Got to make the better half happy too.

My turn to confess... I've been ignoring Buford as other projects have crept in.. Some DD stuff, then a dock ramp extension project and now I have to fix my poor 2 post lift that is ripping out a row of anchor bolts.

Well, my truck is in storage for the winter.........trying to decide if I want to build another COE. I know of a couple potential trucks locally....
Have some other projects I'd like to do first, never seem to have enough time or money. Or ambition.

I have decided to use an F-100 front fender from the opposite side of the truck as a donor. Contours of wheelwell are almost an exact match.
