Moved into house in 84, my neighbor ,a motor head, told me about a car his dad had in a barn a 37 terraplane along with about 5 other cars. Bought it in 85 the rest is history.

Got my 60 Olds for $1000 bucks from a guy who came into hubby's office all the time when he was a dealership bodyshop manager. It ran and drove fine - in fact I used to drive it up and down our street until we took the motor out to swap it for a big block TRUCK motor (its gonna tow) The guy had it for a gazillion years. Im only the third owner- papers and everything. and now Im gonna chop it up heee heee hee
I picked mine up at the streetrod nationals in Louisville August 2003. I plan on driving it back there this year. After the body it was a long road of collecting parts and pieces.
My 58 DelRay I traded a new Honda Shadow 750 for it. After riding the bike all summer. The 30 Ply 4 dr was my wifes grandfathers car that was stored in a small barn since 1956. We just had our first year anniversary.
In a old musty building with a bunch of 55 - 56 Fords....... He had a bunch of good stuff........in another building. 4 or 5 33 - 34's ....and pair of 40 Ford coupes and 3 Harleys. Unfortunately......he knows the value of all the stuff My little 3W was on the road the last time in 1968...... It had been sitting since 58 and they got it running for a few summer months in 1968 and then parked it again. I plan on it being back on the road this year
In April '04 I asked a buddy to sell me his coupe. He says 'No, but I'll find you one'. Yeah, right. Well a couple of months later he calls. Went to look at it...ugghh! POS...but...It's amazin' what you can save if you want it bad enuff. The seller found it upside down on the drivers side in a creekbed in Arkansas in 1986. He drug it home and attempted to fix the rust and chop the top 3 inches(badly). Then he covered it in bondo and primed it. Then it sat for 18 years. I bought it for $35.00, and did ALL the work on it myself in a one car garage with a dirt floor...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
Got the frame from a friend in Martinez, the engine block and rear axle from a junk yard in idaho (that just went under), the front axle came from gilroy. About 3 grand and 5 years of work i drove it around the block.
Lets see. Bought one from a family friend, bought two out of newspaper ads, bought two by word of mouth, and my last one I found posted on an internet ad. I found the last one in a cow pasture in Texas. Car stories are cool, they seem to get better over time and they all have some mystery, they add to the car's character.
At least he didnt try to come up with some rediculous lie like the guy gave to him or some BS like that.
Fordbarn ad, $4,500 stock/running & driving, I thought it was a smokin price for a 31 with no rust to repair
I bought my tudor as a bodie at pamona for $500 and it was on a frame, started building it from there.
i got my 53 from a guy at work. i traded him my 1990 ford crew cab 4x4 with 170,000 for the 53, a 1981 ford courier, and $300. i bought my 54 studebaker truck a few months ago from osr for $1500.
got mine ready built.......for less than half the price of the hard parts. I would never have finished it to the level it is, would have got to drivable and primer and that would have been finished. The guy who built it (Gary you are truly an ace builder!!) spent 7000 hours over 3 or 4 years (yep around 8 hours a day) and then bought a finished 57 ford 2door wagon (trust me reeeeeally nice) so had to sell... see the show me your burn outs thread for a pic.
I pulled my frame out of a ravine behind the house, a Willys Six that's been made into a trailer. The body, '27 Coupe, I got for $200 from a friend of my dad's. He's a mechanic and was workin on a pickup that exploded and took out his shop. He lived without a scratch, but heard I was lookin for a body and he needed the money. Later said he felt bad because the body was in worse shape than he thought. I still feel I got a screaming deal. The 8rt I got for $500 from another friend of my father's who decided that his perfect running flathead wasn't "daily driver" enough. Came with radiator back to driveshaft, included headers and dual Smithy's. Also got a free, never used, MultiPower dual carb intake for the engine. Its good to have connections!
Back in 77 a guy I worked with told me about a 57 Chevy sitting on blocks in a backyard. We bought it, put tires and battery and drove her home.Gave 700 bucks for it .The good old days! Our 40 we just got from a friend who had it about 20 years, he built it from the ground up. My wagon was found behind a barn 3 miles away, hadn't been drove since 82.
