where is the serial #????

need to know where the serial # is located on the frame of a 48 ford coupe.It is not on the fire wall.it was lost.---------thanks ray

 

Left Turn- you'll find it on TOP of drivers side frame rail somewhere between the steering box and the radiator crossmember. it varies from car to car-but should be there. also its on the start of the kickup ahead of rear wheel on top of frame there.....wire brush the hell out of it and it should show up.GOOD LUCK some are pitted away......

Also on bell housing IF trans is original, usually easier to find and read than frame #. If you do think trans is original, pull up center top of floor mat. Near top of the removable part of floor is a long oval punching that can be bent up to reveal the # on the bell housing. Number should be *899A.......*, with the asterisks representing stars that will tell you you have found both ends of number.
