I've been selling off my collection for the last 3 years. Business (Rod 'n Race Fiberglass) '32 Ford Woody roadster Pickup, '36 Fiat Sedan Delivery, and lots of magazines, trophies, SCTA programs and other "stuff". Once my Fiat comp coupe "Pinocchio" finds a new home, what's left isn't going to be very much, only worth a few pennies, and can go to the land fill.
This. Keep it up to date as well. Sadly, the uncle who was the executor of my dad's will passed away before my dad. The responsiblity was passed to my older sister - when dad passed on settling up was fairly simple because he had kept all the bookkeeping on point, and there weren't two kids, three ex-wives and all the stepkids fighting over a modest estate. He had written everybody but me and sis out of his will. It ain't something to take lightly. I don't really have my house in order, even though I know I should because dad set such a good example. Kinda hard to bring up the topic to friends - "hey, you wanna be the executor of my estate?" just doesn't come off as easily as "hey, you wanna beer?".
Yes..a "downer" thread, worse yet I brought it back up at the risk of more negative comments simply because it is reality, and hopefully it will motivate some of us to get our shit together, so to speak. The real "downer" is dealing with the best way to do with this inevitable reality, when no instructions have been presented. When I first started this thread 10 years ago my father was nearing his end (has since passed) and he being from the depression era saved everything. It was no small task to determine the most appropriate way to liquidate his possessions, with his intentions considered, but not spelled out. I appreciated the "reality" type responses received. After the "what is our age really?" thread it is obvious it is time to give it serious thought. If this is too much of a "downer" your option to ignore the thread as well as the reality.
