I did a search but couldn't find any threads on this, so if there is one already I'm sorry.
I need a spare set of keys for my 55 ford and none of the local parts stores or hardware or anyone seems to be able to do it.
Anyone here make old keys or know where I can go?
I have only one set and they are original and its not a matter of if I will lose them - just a matter of when.
    Thanks

Tons of key blanks on ebay.......any place that cuts keys will be able to copy yours on other blanks. I used to work at a hardware store and made quite a few keys.....the ones on ebay, if they're the same as yours look like some really common blanks. Did the people you asked just look it up in a book or did they actually compare your originals to their blanks? I made quite a few keys for things that weren't listed that way!
    Hope this helps!

I had a bunch of folks acually look at my keys, not just look up the car in a book. My problem was that I was asking them instead of asking the HAMB!
Those ebay blanks look just like mine so that should work out well.
    Thanks guys!

Try Joey Jesser at the URL below. I got a set of keys for my 69 Hurst SC/Rambler from him several years ago. He's expensive, but has just about everything under the sun when it comes to classic keys. He does a bunch of swap meets too, so you might meet up with him at a show.

go to an old part of your town and find a locksmith that looks like he's been there a while. i found one and got keys made for my 48 ford for a couple of bucks. they even said they could rework my locks so that all my locks would work with the same key. a previous owner had changed the lock mechanisms
so that they all used different keys.

Jim is right, I go to A-1 Lock & Key in Adrian, MI without keys, just a door handle from my Chevrolets and he makes keys for me for $5 or $10 every time. Just needs the numbers off the mechanism. Don't know about Ford's though.

It's really no thing at all, I've had keys made for several of my old cars, just pull the switch out, take to a locksmith and have them cut. Takes about 30 minutes, and might cost $20.
