I don't plan to run a rear seat. Gonna build a box'ish thing the back and keep tools/parts/cooler/etc... in and also mount a newer style fuse panel/radio/heater/et...

so i'm thinking about using this 50's chevy fuse panel (like a sub-panel getting power from other to power everything under the hood.) and either mounting under drivers kick panel or on the firewall as pictured.

    any thoughts?
I'd love to see some other examples/idea....

  2. my thought is...while you want good accessibility to wiring components you don't want them hanging out on the firewall. i have always done my best to hide them

  3. my full fendered `28 tudor has a stock back seat , so i mounted the battery through the rear floorboard.. it is kind of a pain to get in/out

it also has a `32 style dash dash , so the stock fuel tank bottom has been cut out. that's a great place to put the wiring panel

it looks like you are doing some nice work.....any more pictures?

  4. It is hard to tell without a better description/pictures of the car but I place my fuse panel under the front seat where it is dry and place the battery under the floorboards where Henry put it. The other side if there are clearance problems with the clutch/pedal assembly. Of course if it is channeled with bucket seats all bets are off.

No matter what kind of car it is, I wouldn't mount a fuse panel on the firewall, unless it was inside. Could you fab a panel, mount it under the dash and make it flip down?

That fuse block is going to clutter up a real nice firewall unless it has a cover over it.
I'm going to use the stock 48 Chev pickup firewall mounted fuse block and the stock cover that I had chromed back in the 70's to cover the spot where the wiring comes though the firewall to the engine and front components but there won't be any fuses in it. I'll replace the fuse block with a junction block so I can run the wires to the lights, horn and front end to it and be able to disconnect them there if I need to remove the nose.

thanks for replies, I agree I have a very clean firewall and a fuse panel would clutter it up... never considered under front seat. have thought about center console.... maybe I need to decide on a front seat now......
I was consider sinking the battery in floor under back seat, but it a little late in the build to do now.
    (probably the best idea)

here's a couple more pictures, green signature is a link to my build thread.
