For some reason I can only attach one pic at a time. So here's pic number 2

Good idea. Not to be a smart ass, but it sounds like you might need someone to guide you through this. In the second pic., it looks to me like the throw out bearing is not engaged very well in the fork. Also, it looks like this assy. may have been sitting for a while, cuz of the obvious rusty parts. May make sense to take trans out and inspect everything. I really can't see clear enough in the pic to determine if there is even a pressure plate in there, maybe that is why the fork is so easy to move back and forth.

This engine and trans were just rebuilt not too long ago, it's just been sitting under a car port for a few months. The rust isn't as bad as it looks in this picture.

There is a pressure plate in the their, the clutch fork slides back in forth really easy, probably 1-1/2" throw, when I push the fork all the way forward until it stops, I can then go about another 1" forward and that has a decent amount of tension on it.

I just want to make sure that first picture is what it looks like when I push in the clutch.

It would be nice to have somebody to walk me through this, but none of my friends and family are into cars, and know nothing about them. My uncle had thought the car through, but he didn't make plans for little things like linkages and whatnot. My uncle is also not able to walk me through this, which is why I have the car now. He wanted me to finish the car myself and build it how I wanted to build it. I'm sure there are lots of guys here that built there first car with little or no help. I try and ask questions when I want to make sure of something, so I don't have to go back and fix it, and I'm smart enough to know if what I'm doing is safe and/or above my ability.

I'm competent in welding, geometry and mechanical properties, i just wanted to double check myself with this question before I dig into it tomorrow
