Event Coverage Where were you in '03? Lets see what you got from the HAMB Drags the early years

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porknbeaner, Oct 2, 2022.

  1. OK I found this in a google search of my name. HAMB Drags '03.
This could be interesting who has pics of the early years of the HAMB Drags.

Was that the first or second drags? I made the scene at the second annual.

  5. second annual was '04. That was our first year. I didn't join the HAMB until sept of '03 myself.

I would not be offended if someone posted anything from any of the old HAMB drags. We had a lot of fun back in the beginning.

There should be a pic of everyone at the track. Group photo.

Not sure who took the pic... Might have been Ryan, Carl, Tman? I kind of thought it was you.

That’s a cool link of pics. That’s back when it was still cool to wear a white T shirt.

The first for me was 04 but I don’t have access to those pictures at this time. A lot more hot rods than real drag cars back then.
Were there even classes back then or just grudge races?

  20. They had classes but they were loosley set up. '04 was the maiden voyage of the Pusher. We had a problem with the starter and push started it to start it when we first pulled into the pits.

I think I made my first pass in that old heap in '05. I was running in stock class a full 2 seconds ahead of the competition. Like I said the classes were pretty loosely set up back then. :D

My car was there in 04, Mike Morris’s car at the time. I brought it back to the area from GA in 2011ish She’s currently getting worked over back to black. Hope to see all of you hooligans come August.

  23. I see Rashy, Zor, myself in boonie hat and Farmer John? who helped roast the pig that first year. Damn it was HOT. @Ryan saved our asses when he set Zor and I up with a room to recover in the AC that night! Thanks Ryan!

Speaking of Mike Morris, 8th Grade Genius here on the HAMB, this is him in like 06 or 07. Got the thing running for the first time in the parking lot and had it sideways the entire length of the track and still ran like a high 9.

Not sure what year this was we came out from the West Coast to participate. My one time out there. 2010? I was with my pal Squeak Bell, Kevin Perry and Marky from the Shifters and quite a few Kiwis. We had a blast. It was the year of the tornado that ripped up Joplin. I never seen anything like that place.
