I'm in South Western Pennsylvania. We get snow for 2 months at least. Its not too cold but its the salt that forces my car into hibernation. It gives me time to clean the garage out then put my car up on jack stands and go over everything. Spray some lanolin rust protector. wipe everything down. Grease all the control arm and linkage joints, my car has 24 of them.. Then do tthe planned up grades. This winter its a new gas tank, pull the rear end pan off and clean it all out and put fresh 90 weight oil.. Then I want to install a tach..

I'm usually very busy this time of year.. Then comes that day when the Robins show up and I know summer is coming soon..

Temps in the single digits last couple of days and icy roads. Been in SW Colorado for 35 years and there have been years that I could drive anytime. One advantage here is the fact the winter is the building and fix it season.

  7. No year round rodding here. Some years ago I decided it would be cool to drive my rod at least once during every month of the year. I did accomplish that one time. Victory!

Another year the weather cooperated so I could do a thousand miles cruise the last week of February. South to Birmingham to meet friends. Then cruised to Baton Rouge, then home. That was very memorable.

Now all is packed away until spring. Heading to Florida next week in the daily. Merry Christmas to all.

Yes, everyday is Roadster Day, even if it isn't.
You pay the price, you get the weather, and the donut runs, and the swap meets (when COVID is done), the beaches, the mountains, the dry lakes, and a couple of drag strips, all within a couple of hours. d
    Our garages are for projects....

  9. Yup, Western Sodak is an island. Golfers love it. Most years they can play at least once every month of the year. Sure we get blasts of cold and snow but it usually breaks and we get that 50 or 60 degree day in January. In fact we hit 60ish the last couple days. But it sucks here, stay where you are.

I can't get to my Garage too much Snow!
around here you can put a Railway tie on the Side of the Road.!
and after the Winter is over it will be in 2 pieces.!
They put something else mixed in with the Salt.!

    Just my 3.5 cents

It's gonna reach 76 degrees here today. Not a cloud in the sky. I took the Jet out for a bit of exercise on the nearby Pacific Coast Highway, just yesterday.
It's almost impossible to not spot a hot rod on the roads around here every single day of the year.
    North County San Diego.
Our city's moniker is "climatic wonderland", as we have more days of 72 degree weather than any other town in the USA.

  15. What is strange is if I head north for a mere 2.5 hours, I can be on your doorstep, yet we haven't had a snowflake since 2015. Seems like the Red River is a boundary of bad weather. The kids are pretty ticked you guys got all that snow and we got nothing.

To the original poster's question, 12 months, most years.

  16. I know this might come as a surprise to some, but here in central Canada on the prairies, it can get pretty nasty during winter. Where I live we don't usually get alot of snow, but we do usually get a month + of -30c type weather. When we do get snow storms, although the snow itself can be Bad, it's usually the snow drifts caused by the wind that make roads impassable. Here's an off topic pic of a 3 day storm we had a couple years ago. 20170308_075825.jpg
I should have just gave the short answer to your question..... yeah I guess I could drive my hot rod year round but....

  17. Like you Danny (HRP). Here in Va. I can drive them almost all year round. I just don't drive in wet weather. The old 29 coupe has been driven in all kinds of weather in the past.
But I was a lot younger and dumber.lol Here's a photo from today. Looks like we may have model, ( A white Christmas);) Ron... 20201221_104939.jpeg

No, in the height of summer it's too darned hot to, here.
High humidity, 110F+ and the breeze just serves to blow the sweat off your brow and down your neck. It doesn't cool you because it can't evaporate.

Wintertime, right now, a pleasant 64F with the heater on in the car to drive about. Just right.

60 miles north of Seattle- other than the fairly rare snowfall, the limit is the quality of your windshield wipers. We are currently on Day 10,455 of continuous rain (seems like it anyway); those little 11" wiper blades don't provide a big hole to see out of.
Thankfully we are supposed to get the next three days of sunny weather so I'm driving a different car each day just to get them out and circulate the fluids and get my heart pumping. I really hate winter anymore.

Yes. It’s a big reason we moved to the south. Oh and also the beach. Snowman

I don't drive if wind speed is above 50 to 120+mph when I'm stopped. 81715homesteadmiamispeedway1.jpg

  24. Drove a 1939 Ford Coupe year round for a few years. No longer drive my cars after first snow. MI uses lots of salt.

Wow, here in South Jersey we haven't gotten any snow yet. I drive until they salt the roads, which was last week for us. But we're getting rain now so that will clean the salt and I'd drive them again until the next salting. By March we are usually pretty much done, so my cars only get parked two or three months a year.

When I built the motor for my '47 Plymouth, I put a block heater in it. It has never been plugged in. I remember a freak snow fall in June one year and the rear window was badly fogged, so winter driving is not in the plans.

Is 106 degrees drivable in a car with no AC?

Yes, turns out it is but it sucks.

Man, in Michigan generally no, but they say if you don't like the weather here wait ten minutes and it'll change. I think it's supposed to be almost 50 the next few days. So it kind of depends, but I don't drive it in the salt and snow, it sits in my heated garage and I turn wrenches for kicks a few times over the winter.
