As some of you know i bought this 65 Galaxie Coded 390 four speed car..Great except for a couple of minor details like the 390 was replaced with a 352 block with smog injected heads.and the Toploader was raped and replaced with an old T-10!! Which explains the shifter issues!! Its my fault, for not checking these things out,I sent my brother down to LA to get the car I never really even gave it much attention since it to be a seller and not something to keep.Real big disppointment, somepeople really know how to ruin a factory coded car.Its not beyond saving its just out of my budget. Now I know what the old man was jabbering about when he said the engine was rebuilt last year and was stroked!! I said stroked ey?! yeah right ok...Well they just threw the 390 crank and pistons in the 352,yeah its stroked alright all the way to about 380 CID which is still 10 CID less than stock!! I bet the guys at the machine shop seen him coming a mile away!! 10 to 1 they knew what they were doing when they took the 390 out and most likely I'm willing to bet they took the Toploader also! poor old guy didnt know all that much about cars it was just a beater for him since 1972.Well one good thing that happened is I sold the factory headlight covers that were on it for $900... I have to do some serious thinking on wheter to keep this car or not..It can be a cool runner as is with a little tweaking..But it still doesnt drive as nice as the 63 Buick Le Sabre I have...
I don't know whether to laugh or CRY for you anymore!!! 352? T10? FLAT BLACK PAINT!!!! Resale value? $300 Better patch up the e-gay ad before ya end up posting some woes about how some dude came over with his posse to kick your ass when he sees what his 390 four speed car REALLY turns out to be! Comedy...or tragedy???
That UPS driver actually sold them to former hot rodder, Tyrone Biggums, who recognized the good deal, and went on to sell them $500, and had a crack party with his profits. Didn't you get a flyer?
