He’s fine, actually better than in years really. I’m not sure his computer is even plugged into the wall lol. I talk to him multiple times every day he’s good guys.

I thought the spelling police found another site to rag members about spelling, it's not as bad as it use to be, It bugs me to see someone chastising a member that has a mistake in spelling, the content is far more important. HRP

This medium consists of words and pictures. Words are important. Quite often intent doesn't come across well in text. Misspelling only adds to that.

We are here to share and learn. Most of us want to know more about traditional cars, builds, techniques and such. No reason we can't learn a little spelling too.

Something that is often maligned by more experienced people is the slang and poor communication of youth. Either communicate clearly or don't bitch when you are corrected. I use a desktop and firefox. Everything I type out has spellcheck with red underlines. If you use something else and are worried about it, there is probably a solution.

I don't mean to chase anyone off by pointing out this stuff and I'd guess most others don't either. They are trying to teach a bit, just like how to weld or what parts bolt together. We are all trying to lift the entire group's knowledge and enjoyment.

That is all well and good, until it becomes a very unattractive form of one-upmanship.....

 

Why not PM the spelling Hoodlum and point out their error, let them correct if they choose to do so. I personally do not mind being corrected I am married and conditioned that way lol.

I am constantly amazed by our friends from different parts of the world where English is not their first language yet they seem to excel in communication their and spelling is spot on.

I often make mistakes in spelling, I can assure you that I was not valedictorian material much to my mother's chagrin but most people can understand my Southern drawl.

Should we try to do our best? I suppose, but on the other hand I don't want to alienate anyone because of a minor faux pas.

This is a traditional car site not a English class, spelling is important but with the world wide web we have the attention of well educated individuals and people that haven't been lucky enough to have a good education but even they can teach and make a point. HRP
