I noticed his lack of input around here as well as a lot of others who were beneficial to the hobby. the hamb is changing, as everything does, but these new changes do not beneift the site. the hamb has been loosing a lot of members who helped build this place into the haven for hot rods it once was. a lot of the older members that are gone provided quality content and I looked forward to their knowledge
About right there. still posts very regularly. did you know you can go to a users profile and see everything they have commented on, and even click and see every post they have started? Good way to find the guys your missing.
The website is currently experiencing a significant period of growth, a phenomenon we've encountered in the past, but it's been several years since we've witnessed one of this magnitude, particularly in the last couple of months. This usually brings about some challenges. Despite the potential difficulties, I am genuinely pleased with the current state of the site and the forum's consistent performance towards spreading the gospel of tradition. If you don't share the same sentiment, you might be in for more disappointment. As we approach our 30th year, I have no intentions of making any significant changes. While I regret any letdowns, I can only act based on my passion for what I know... Regarding Tman, I provided ample opportunities for him to retain his account. Multiple warnings were issued in the past. Ultimately, I must prioritize the protection of my volunteer moderators. These individuals dedicate a significant amount of their time to maintain the site, and I rely heavily on their support. Continuous disparagement of their efforts and this community isn't content I'm inclined to host. At the end of the day, this forum is my creation. I built it, I operate it, and I invest everything I have into it—not for financial gain, ego, or any other motive, but purely out of an overwhelming passion for these old cars. This forum is my contribution to the world born out of that passion. I understand it may not resonate with everyone, but I extend my sincere appreciation to those who genuinely value it and trust me to lead it another 30 years... Cuz I'm not going anywhere.
I don't think he got banned, just miffed. I seem to get along with all the moderators, except maybe for Corncob. He's too friendly. I'll be walking across a car event, and out of nowhere hear my name yelled out loud. It's kind of disconcerting for a guy in the witness protection program.
No. His account has been closed. Like I said, I gave him every opportunity... There's only so much I can do before I have to prioritize my moderators. And again, those guys are only helping me enforce my rules. So shooting them is just shooting the messenger. Bagging on them, posting politics, etc... I just don't have a lot of patience for that stuff. That being said, I think it's completely normal to get sick of my shit and tired of the way I do things. I 100% get that. But, at the end of the day, this is my joint... and I do what I do out of passion for what I know... Some people share that passion in the same way and some people don't appreciate it. I understand and accept that.
About 25 years ago, while listening to the "CAR GUYS" on NPR. They brought up an interesting set, of widely agreed upon rules, for topics that should never be discussed at a traditional "Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving" table. Reason being, it was because everybody perceives themselves, to be the foremost expert on these 7 topic's. I think Tom and Ray were spot on, as indicated by the 7 topics on their list. Those topics were, 1. Sex. 2. Money. 3. Artwork. 4. Automobile's. 5. Music. 6. Religion. 7. Politic's.
There were a lot of people with great builds and talent & skills to build them that left the HAMB for other sights. NONE OF THEM are worth the cost of a cellphone and time to track them down to continue following them. Found far too many good people here on the HAMB to ever think of leaving. Bob
You know what Ryan? At the end of the day I have to agree with the last paragraph. I havent always agreed with some of your opinions either but like you say, its your joint I signed the front of the check for years too. If someone wanted to overrule me all they had to do was get their check book out and we could work things out. This is no loss
At the end of the day when you give a person a chance to amend their ways and they don’t -well they should get what they get. Several chances is More Than Fair. Hopefully no one has hard feelings business is business. Nothing wrong with belonging to other sites that cater to particular subjects not allowed here! Ryan I hope you don’t grade to hard on grammar or I’m up shit creak with out a paddle
TMAN is/was a great contributor . But I agree with @Ryan if he was being difficult or not going along with the rules , something needs to be done. a while ago I flew off the handle at Ryan and a bunch of the mods for a thread that I started that they deleted. Full on 44 year old temper tantrum , arms flayling , snot running down my nose , pulling at my hair and pretty sure I even lost a shoe I was so angry feeling I was slighted and insulted . I got a pretty stern “ PARDON ME ?” From Ryan and the guys and they laid out the rules of the Hamb . they understood why I felt like I did , pretty much didn’t care as the rules are black and white . Once I wiped my nose and took a breath it made sense why my thread was axed . I apologized and we moved on . with the narrow focus of this site and who we all are it would be way to easy for this to become a watered down pro street , rat rod , whatever site with face book posts and your grandmothers apple pie recipe threads . it’s not , I love it and respect the rules …… for the most part . people come and people go , I still see killer build threads and great technical posts daily . the site ain’t dying it’s evolving while keeping its roots firmly planted . as Ryan stated , his account is closed , is there a possibility of him returning ?
I connected with him on Facebook yesterday and didn't realize he got banned from here until he mentioned it. I figured the worst thing I could do was ask why and what happened. It is what it is.
