  1. thinking of putting a 5 speed in my 57 chevy. which one do i need? what about shifter location and length. i've got a mild 350 probably somewhere between 300 to 350 horsepower. need some general advice and recommendations.

If you have a stock or mild motor, and you plan on going to cruise night and putz around town, use one from an 88 or 89 S10 V6. If you have some horse power or you plan on a drag from time to time, step up to the T 3550 or the 500. TREMEC has a website that is huge, but easy to navigate, it will teach you everything you need to know to make a good decision.

$cheap$ camaro t5 with a s10 shifter. go to inliners.org > tech tips > t5 page scroll down to the bottom to camaro hybrid

$expensive$ aftermarket 5 speed or 6 speed. Some 5 speeds are not overdrive, so you'll use a 3.00 rear gear and have a deep 1-2 gear. they hold up to less torque the deeper the gear.
