I taught auto mechanics in a prison here in California for 15 years. I had 2 Bendpack lifts. I had one pump failure in all that time. We used them almost daily. The inmates couldn't hurt them. Believe me, if inmates can't hurt or damage something, it is real tough! If I were to buy one for my use, I wouldn't hesitate to by a Bendpack.

Izzy: I have the Atlas 8K Hobbyist 4 post and it has served me well for about 3 years. I previously also had a Bendpak 6K scissor lift which I was also very happy with. I am sure you would be pleased with either but I would not be afraid of going with the Atlas unit. The photos attached show a modification I made to mine to prevent the hose from twisting as the ramp travels from the floor to the highest setting. It is a Super Swivel product, 5000 PSI rated which will do the twisting and the hose remains relaxed at all times. I also picked up some 1/2" wire loom protector from Harbor Fright and use that to prevent abrasion as the hose will scrape a bit on the floor in the lower position.

    I don't like my Bend-pak for a few reasons
1 the safety catch doesn't work until it's about 3 ft off the ground. When I do any brake jobs I like to sit on my roll around chair to do them, I don't put any body parts under the car, that's for sure.
2 the cable system is just funky how they secure them, one side it bolted on and the other side is captured by a sheet metal pocket
3 the lever to release the safety latch is way too hard to hold in when letting the lift down, I've got a big box end wrench on the end of it to hold it down easier, yes I'm an old bastard and don't have much grip anymore
I don't know what I'd buy if I was to buy another but these are my complaints.
BTW this lift is 2 years old.

I have two Bendpac four post lifts and they are great. As I was putting them up, I had questions and got very good response to questions. They had a agent in knoxville, Pam, who was very good at making sure that I got what I needed. A friend and i put them up without any special tools or lifts. After they were put up, i had some questions and pam was great at making sure i got the info i needed. I love mine. I got them in red to match my tool boxes. I do recommend them.

I have neither a Bendpac or Atlas but rather a third brand that I would not recommend. In December 2017 I was going to buy a new lift and settled on a Bendpac. Nice people and nice product. If I had ordered an new Bendpak I was going to opt for the extra wide and the slightly taller. The extra wide allows you to work on Trucks with big wide spaced wheels and remove two bolts and the one side rail moves in so you can work on your wife's Miata or Model T etc. The extra high option is nice when you are storing cars on the lift. When you have two large/ tall cars/trucks storing one on the lift and one under the car on the lift is easier/possible to do with the extra high lift. To gain these two options was fairly cheap. I don't remember exactly how much money was involved but it wasn't much.
