I have a 52 chevy hardtop with upgraded gmc 302 6 cylinder with a 3speed trans. Still want to keep it a manual, and was wondering what transmission was the way to go? Muncie etc. etc. I know we would have to swap out the closed drive shaft and reared, which would be no problem. Looking to make it just a solid freeway cruiser.
In terms of ease, grab an adapter from HAMBer Inline: http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=787178&highlight=t5+adapter And put a 3.76 ge****t S10 T5 on it. A 1976 Camaro rear, or the like, with 3.73 or 3.42 gears will round out the rear nicely. You will need to change the clutch disc to one that has the correct spline count and shaft size, as well as diameter, but the pedals and linkage remain the same. More T5 info than you can stake a shick at: http://www.flatheadv8.org/ernie/ernie-t5.htm
