i would say...what motor do you have accessible to run, and probably the easiest to accomodate in a ford...most likely a ford set up. i'm not brand loyal by any means but i grew up around chevy's so that's what i know and understand.

  2. After reading some of the responses on this... customs are made to look good with the hood closed. Who cares what the hell's under it? Put a Toyota in there for all it matters.

put a ford in it.i dont understand all of these people saying putting a sbc it trad?sbc are over rated.years ago if you wanted to build a ford it would cost you about 20-30% more but now they are so close it isnt funny.you can get a ho 5.0 from anywhere for around $300-500 complete.take the bs efi stuff buy a $20 intake from a swapmeet and have a good roller motor that you can enjoy for years and make the same if not more hp.parts are cheep and there are somany good used parts out there you can have a good looking and proforming engine for cheep.

or you can go the stupid way like i did and put an amc motor in it.but thats what i used because i had all the stuff and they make some really good hp.i did set my car up for a sbc-glide if i want to go fast and be cheep, but that wont ever happen until i sell it and someone else does it!!!!

Yes they were under rated . They had the 390 That was a rocket ship ! I had a Matador with a 360 w/4bbl and that was a fast car also . They just never game them the change they deserved . I remember a few back in the early 70's and saw them beat the **** out of those chevs !
BTW I also had an Opel ! I had the GT and was lots of fun to drive .

the 401s were rated at 325hp and 450lbs of torque.and the heads flowed better than any head chevy or ford ever made.

lol no belly ****on engines in a ford ..the small block ford is as easy to get a hold of now as a smallblock chev used to be thanks to all the 5.0 s around nothing is cooler than brand loyality..unless its a hemi ...plus chevs put the distibutor in the wrong place nothing worse than crawling across your fenders to set the timing..fords better idea !
