It's not nearly as "tough" as it once was...glass or not makes no difference to me personally because my first 32 was a glass 3 window and it was fun as hell! I just think sometimes when one ask's for opinion's, you get what you ask for and more.. It's a cool car, and given the two choices some dont like either, thats their opinion. I think the car with little or nothing "works" Take it for what it is and do what you want. Regardless, just have fun with it and when someone bust's your balls about the satin paint or whatever design you go with, just smile. Makes no difference what any of them, or us like. Tony
No, this is now the 'G' rated HAMB. Neither paint. Go shiny black, non polished 5 spokes from the old days and it will never look dated. Ever.
Black paint is good. 5 spokes are ok...I prefer asphaltum enamel or nitrocellulose and Kelsey-Hayes bent spokes. What would you offer up? Just curious.
What of what is the question, mod? Paint would be what he allowed to use in his area by law/EPA. The wheels 14 front 15 rear and even no name plain, straight spokes would be ideal. Shiny black paint & custom ($!$) chrome reverse would be second choice.
Perhaps I have misunderstood the tenor of your last several posts; I know of no EPA restrictions regarding hobby use of said paints...my point is some of us still prefer doing things the old fashioned way (ourselves and with period materials) and kinda resent your "G-rated watered-down" HAMB comments...if anything, this is the last bastion of expertise in said methods.
I vote for a logo with pinstripes. You may want to check out Jack of Arts, (http://www.jackofarts.net/ )He is located in Ellicott city. He was set up at the Mobtown show a couple years ago and does nice work.
Being in the custom paint business , when I first finished my roadster I painted it with flames as kind of a rolling sales tool . I sold a lot of flame jobs but that paint layout just wasn't me ( I'm fairly conservative in my personal taste ). So last year , I spent the first five months removing the flames and painting a simple one color pinstripe on the reveal. All of my customers thought that I was nuts, but for me I like it better . Here's some before and after shots for you to think about
Roll it back into the booth and paint it shiny. If you really want flames have them layed out better, the rendering looks like tree branches. Please go to an experienced flame painter I bought a race car that was black with flames. They were done well but grew to hate them. Sold the car.
