Trying to replace bias tires on a 56 Chry Windsor. I am showing both a 215/75R15 and 225/75R15 will work. What is the difference other than price and does one out proform the other?

  2. The 225 has a larger cross section than the 215. The aspect ratio is related to the size of the cross section width so the 225x75 will be a little taller.

I personally would probably run the larger tire.

What he said. If you have the clearance I'd run the bigger tire. Your speedo will show a few MPH slower, though.

Has anyone on here ever used Tire Rack ? How do the prices compare and how was the service at one of their drop spots to get them mounted ? I have a lady friend who needs a couple of tires and we were talking about checking them out vs going to a local tire shop.

I've used their services several times. When it's all said and done I'm not sure if I actually saved any money or not. I didn't have the warranty issue that 'tr' had, however.

Over the years I have used Tire Rack many, many times No Problems!
A call to their 800 number will clear up any ?s about warranties.
I am fortunate to be able to mount and balance my own wheels.
High end tires @ good prices, and fast delivery.

  8. We were a Tire Rack agent (all 30 stores) and did a lot of work for them. We charged more for installation. Back then normal service was $12.95, disposal another buck. If you were shipping TR to our store we charged $16 and 3 for disposal. And we did not warranty the tires which was mentioned before. The Rack has it's own Road Hazard warranty and insurance that it offers to their customers. We would do the labor and they would pay us to effect the warranty but it did not represent any $$ out of our pocket.
By and large if you were looking for serious performance tires or unusual tire sizes that had to be SO'd by us then often it was a bit cheaper and perhaps quicker to buy from the Rack.
