Having just wrestled with the Cragars on my ‘64 Comet they are not my favorite with the lug nut adapter/washers. It also would have been nice to make the center cover removable without taking the wheel off so wheel bearing adjustments could be easier as well. They do use old-style weights rather than stick-on, though.

It’s been done plenty of times and I am guilty as charged :)

I deleted the picture of the car with the center line wheels. They are off topic here

Budget will play a HUGE roll in this.
Not fact, but have seen it many times, I'm betting the guy that bought the wheels that are on the car now simply went to his local tire/wheel shop and said "what's the cheapest shiny wheel you have that is in stock today", sadly, that criteria is all a lot of people care about.
Those wheels made those guys a lot of money over the years.

I like my Cragars like I like my pizza, deep dish (reversed) and meat lovers (big tires)!
I also like Halibrands and blackwalls on pre 65 stuff, but requires a killer stance and some HP.
Fake knock offs? Just say nyet.

Wait how did you do that to the rear doors? That is impossible unless it’s a towncar.

With a little sweat, polish, paint and some digging you could put together a KILLER period friendly set of wheels and tires for under 500 bucks. 14s are cheap and plentiful, plus they look RIGHT! (Bottom pic of Rasputin13's (los Boulevardos) beautiful 62 Catalina courtesy Rasputin)

A $500 budget won't get much for a set of wheels where I am. No idea what's available in your area for that money.

I just sold a set of torque thrusts 14x7 and 14x8 staggered, 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern with old tires but never on the street (still has nubs on the tread surface). Here they are on my PU.

Sold them on marketplace for $200, no curb rash, original condition. Guy bought them for his Corvair van. Point is, 14's are out there and can be had cheap.

Like these? Where did you find them for $60? That's a steal, even used.

The various Corvette wheel covers of the day look pretty damn snazzy on any Chevy as well. And they can be surprisingly inexpensive.

@Phillips is right, I'll add that 'Vette wheel covers will be 15'' , which is a plus.

I go back and forth on my aluminum slots but white walls make it work for me.
    Definitely lower it.

When going to 15-inch tires on the rear of your 63 Chevy be careful how tall of tire you try, was going to sell these to my buddy for his 63, 28.9 tall 235-75-15s, the rocker panel didn't have enough room for a tall tire, may have to stay close to the stock 14-inch tire height with a 60 series tire

As predicted, everyone has a wheel they like. Has it helped OP with his quest? What I do know is this. What ever he get’s will be round. :p

Ride height matters a lot, and also when you drop the axle it swings forward, so larger tires can be hard to fit in for sure.

There's about a 2-1/4" height range between the 235/75 you mentioned and a stock sized tire. In there are a lot of options. 275/60 fits a 64 that's lowered, don't know if it fits a 63 too. 255/60 is about the stock height but wider, if someone wants that look.

Sticking to the stock height because it might cause interference isn't hot rodding, is it? :p
