I think the '33 Dodge is one of the nicest looking Mopars, but I'd have to have some money to boot, to trade your Merc.

That's my vision , just hard to start considering I keep driving it and don't want it to sit idle

No Brainer - the Mercury. That Dodge is Fugly and has a 6 cylinder engine. I don't believe you could give it away.

The sad part is the owner is 70 and said he's put 30 grand into it having all the work done at various shops so he's asking 18 grand which I think is way too high I just see potential hidden is all

Mercury over an off brand every time

  7. Proving yet again that the correlation between how much money is put into a car and it's retail value is pretty low....

I see this car in a Shriner's parade, with Clowns piling out of it...

I'm a mopar guy but I'd keep the Merc!!

The owner might have 30 grand in it, but I doubt he will get 18 for it.

Keep the Mercury, a 4 door Dodge will always be harder to sell when you get tired of it.

  11. Knghtcadi, I thought that car in your avatar looked familiar. When I looked at the pictures it finally dawned on me (I'm a little slow sometimes). I like the Merc a bunch and would be happy owning it, bunch of potential for sure but looks great just as it sits.
Did Tony sell his Chevy? Hope to see you and Joe at the pie run.

The Dodge has too many doors for me and like the song goes "Your gonna miss me when I'm gone".

Well now I got the dog howling.

Not saying I would trade at all and not saying this plymouth is perfect but the dodge could be tweaked to look a little better by at least losing the taxi cab theme If I already had it???

  15. i am in the minority here and would either start cutting that merc up to make it a custom or trade it for the taxi. the mustang II front end can be changed and the six can be souped up.
i think you need a special license to drive one tho......

Ya know, if you have to ask "what should I do" when it comes to your car vs another, may as well pick up a Yugo while you are deciding.

I say take door number 3...feel better?

    Grow a set.

It's pretty obvious you don't really want either car. Dodge the Dodge, sell the Merc and buy what you really want.

You have given a lot of wise counsel - keep the Merc!

I would choose the Merc because it has a trunk to carry my golf clubs.
If you are bored with the Merc a late model Lincoln chassis swap will keep you occupied over the winter.
The Dodge could be cool if you get rid of that god awful taxi crap. Lower the front end, turbo charge the inline 6 so it will get down the road.

I still trying to work out if this is a serious post or a wind up.........

I think walking is the preferable option to that Dodge ;)

Your Merc on the other hand is :)

Lot more work to get the Dodge where you want it. Unless the trade has some extra $$$ for you, I'd keep the Mercury.

Lots of older owners of 30s cars jumping ship to get into 50s-60s cars. The junkyard bucket seats, the chevy 6 in mopar, what i'm guessing is an actual mustang 2 front suspension, the random steel wheels, just screams of a cars built with crap that was laying around rather than a quality car built with a vision, by someone who knew what they were doing. Keep the merc, at least til something better comes by.
