I used the Vern Tardel book to locate my engine mounts for my 53 in my 29 frame. I have a dual pulley which is too long and hits my spring U bolts. I see his flathead is a single belt pulley. Can someone steer me to the correct years to use? Thank you.

First, what pumps are you using? Early pumps can be used on the late engines with simple changes to shorten the pulley area.

Bruce, I'm using 49-53 truck water pumps.

When looking at the pumps from the side, are the pump pullys OFF SET? (the belt groves not in line with each other)
Are the belts WIDE or NARROW?

Thanks for the interest. The pumps have no offset and the pulleys are wide. I'm going to be away for a week, so I will answer all when I return.
