When I was a kid back in School, They would show us films of how life would be when we were adults,.... We would live in sky scrapers and fly around in our own personal flying saucers (not unlike the Jetson's)...

But in the meantime, We would certainly be driving these in the late 50' and early 60's.... Did I miss these ?.... I was so looking forward to seeing them in the show rooms !.....

"Reality,... For those that cant handle being a Designer"
(However,... Some of these are sooooo cooool !)

They have a few concept cars in the vault @ the Petersen museum. That orange Chrysler was there as well as this '53 Ghia built Cadillac plus a few others I didn't get pics of. I love cars like this, great thread idea...

    Great stuff, Harm.
    WHERE'S MY FLYING CAR!?!?!

  5. You and me both,,where is my fly car?

Thankfully, not ever prototype autos from our youth were destroyed as the automakers were know to have done.

It is evident when watching the big name auctions on television when every once in a while one of these amazing cars is reintroduced to the unaware public, but just as quick as it is seeing the light of day a guy bids that has unreachable depth to the bottom of his pockets and it is whisk away and never to be in the public eye again.

Thanks for posting these amazing creations. HRP

    from nebraska

1st set of pic's, 2nd row, far right. I think that is what the Batmobile from the 60's was based on. looks just like it, at least.

  11. The very same car, just modified by Barris

  12. 1955 Lincoln Prototype Futura.

I always heard Barris bought the car from Ford for $1.00 Dollar. HRP
