Heres the finished product....thought youd like to see what they looked like prior alot of work but deff worth it in the end...like I said before little details...cleaning the screws up with a wire brush or making a diagram of the carb and numbering the bolts for ease..it went like clockwork...Here is the center carb completed!

i just looked at all the pics and couldnt see a clear engine bay pic, but it looks like theres a crossmember in there with sbc mounts on it? maybe just try some stock style mounts and see how it lines up?

The member in its gotta go...#1 its still at the same position "before" the wheelbase change...and when moved up it wont clear the vega box either. I have to go with different motor mounts for sure. Cut out the trans crossmember "wrong location" and cut out the brake cylinder and move it up too! When I make the wheelbase right it made alot more work for me but it will be worth it to have it "right"!!!

YES! Worth it in the end... YES alot more work for you... I re-did the rear section of my frame 3 times. I cut the frame and widend it too. (does that make 4 times) I have had mine on and off severial times to get it right... Us 1st timers are paying tuition to the colage of knowlage for sure! You STILL have a damn nice project!!! Be proud! Take your time! Who will care if you miss another show date? No one will miss ya bro.. But you'll be pissed at your self for the short cuts you take... Don't ask how I know....

Hey WhiteDevil, what ya cleaning those carbs with and what is the paint you are using on the bases ?...... Ive got a pair of Rochesters on my sedan and the dammm things are ugly as sin......... Sure would look better if they cleaned up like those and the two 2's adapter was polished up nice....... <<<<< that would make engine tear down number 5 for me this year (that is if i chose to clean up the rochesters)

Nice....well tonight wasnt as great in the ol garage! I got one of the dumper carbs all taken care of and then I open the last carb and bam! Rust city!!!! What a mess....the springs on everything eaten through and 2 of the jets are stripped out and I had no luck getting them out...seems like Im going to be sending one of my donor carbs back...well its late and im going to bed. What a crappy way to end the night!

So I see you decided on 3 deuces. I think you will like them better than dual quads... I've had a time getting mine right. After all the tuning I did.... I've realized that I have my motor "over cammed", yes, you can have too much cam.
Anyway, looks good... keep it up!

Thanks brewton...in about 15yrs my coupe will look 1/2 as good as yours. My engine may be a little radical on the cam but Im going to try it and if its too bad Ill change it out...

    Thanks for the complement!
About camshafts, after driving mine around for a while the I realized that my "drag race" cam was too big for what I was doing. It is real fun to hammer and go through the gears, but for zipping around town and cruising the rpm range was too high. I could drop my rear end gears to 4.56, but this would kill my 65 mph cruising.
The cam I have really doesn't start to perform until 4000 rpm, great for the track, but bad for the street. All that to say I'm going to put in a cam that comes earlier in the rpm range for street driving, with better tq numbers down low.

I think mines going to be alright...well see! Im making mine for ALL driving....the rpm range is about what I need just dont know how it will idle.

Got some parts in yesterday. Not anything that special just some engine dress up stuff etc. The little man loves when the parts box shows up! Still waiting for motor mounts etc. to get the motor mocked up in the car. Cant wait to see what it looks like thats for sure. I have another rochester 2g on the way to replace the bad one! Sure glad there are some good/honest sellers out there. Spending the weekend with the family not too much car work going on....

Heres some pics of the motor as its coming together. Alot of the parts are just sitting on there for pic purposes. Some more engine parts will be here today so I can get most of it done minus distrib, headers, plug wires alt and starter. I should have the last carb done this week just waiting for the replacement. Im looking at interior swatches for fun...did I already say I love glitter vinyl? I added a pic of how I pic color choices...my son does it. REMEMBER the block will be painted black just havent got to it yet and Im using 3 frogmouth scoops with the inside of the mouths black. Let me know what you think I should have the motor sitting in between the rails soon to see what it looks like

I would love to get my motormounts done this weekend but I dont know if Ill get to it. Heres some pics of the motor a little farther along...cant wait to see what it looks like in the car
