Thanks Brewton..if my coupe looks half as good as yours in 10 years Ill be sittin sweet! skunx.. No drivetrain lined up yet still looking...trying to finish all the steering up, get some hinge work done etc. The big boxes of parts coming this week are going to help get the build going!!! The spacers and wheels/tires should be here next week cant WAIT to get them on to see how she looks...I know the wheels and tires on it will be a big inspiration!
ill let you know if i run across a good sbc deal here. i have a couple th350s(not short tail) if you need. supposed to be good, but id have em gone thru
Sounds good evel let me know.... Greenmonster I just called them....they dont have the pics on the site or at least not what I was looking for call them and tell them that you want the 64 series oem ford or chevy and they will get you fixed up. (they are wheel vintiques)
the UPS man hates me he has been stopping here atleast once a week for the last year so he pulls up in front of the house to check his manifest everyday to see if he has a drop. As for the son I know what you mean my youngest who is seven is all about the hotrods especially the 30's roadsters and duece coupes. I was never prouder though when I showed him a 50's sled and asked him what it was and he said " well I think its a merc but the lines are not right so it is not a merc and it does not have the nose cone of a shoebox so I would have to say it is a chevy but it has been really tricked and it is hard to tell." he was right it was a chevy and it was tricked. He wants to build his own car a roadster and he has already got it planned out and he has got some really good ideas they do pay attention.
Got a big box of parts in today so I got a couple hours of work done on the coupe. My wheel spacers came from cali (via chopperman) Wheels and tires scheduled to come later this afternoon so if they do "praying" I will try to get some pictures up with the new shoes. OH BABY Fed ex just showed up.....gotta go Ill get some new pics up later.
Well they are finally here....the little man and I unpacked em (he kept saying cool cool cool) and set em on the car to see what they look like. Not as sweet as the rusty dirty rims that I got the car rolling on but......they will do!!!! Coker tire delivered really fast and they look great. Cant take a pic outside because its raining but I will tonight if it stops or this weekend. These pics are the best I can do right now totally changes the look of the car!
Wont let me post pics from the outside due to a missing security token???.......man it looks so much better!!! I got some mounts to lower the rear coil overs and make them adjustable...also gonna level out the channel in the rear a little. Got some floor work to do etc. Its coming along though....alot of inspiration with the new parts and new shoes!!!
That's a cute little helper you have there White Devil. Also looks like you have a great start on what will be another outstanding A from the HAMB. Good luck and keep on trucking mi amigo.
great looking rod. Nice wheel/tire combo. I cant keep my little ones out of my hot rods either, they make great play pens. Keep us posted.
Thanks guys I wouldnt do this build without him...at 15 months hes all over the place cant wait to see what happens when hes a couple years old! Ill see what the administrators say about the pics not uploading because of the security key....until then I added some on my profile album let me know what you think!
Those wheels rule..and so dose the little guy,,, I wanna see a side shot.. come on do be shy.. Did I tell you my friend makes drip rails?
I tried to add some side pics last night but it gave me some error code....I thought I had a side shot in the photo album but maybe not. Evel get me the info on the drip rails...
Heres the best pics I can get because Im at the fire station today and its all I have....Me shy never! I still have to get the channeled all evened out (The body is just sitting on the frame for now thats why the rear looks low! put the rear housing adjustable mounts so I can lower the rear the right way....build floors etc... After I get off shift tommorow I will have some hours to put in on sunday...cant wait! Get the steering finished, get rear coil over shock mounts on, paint the front brakes, etc. Still waiting for a couple more parts to come in from riley-auto so I can get my headlight/shock mount combo on from pete and jakes with chrome shocks.
Starting to look around at drivetrains....Im going to run a SBC with some traditional speed parts. I love the look of dual quads!!! (see Brewtons coupe) but I also like the look of 3 dueces as well! So many choices.....
Looks GREAT with those tires and wheels, man! Making me wish my next A was slated for this year... Ehhh...maybe next year... I loved my three Rochesters... If you do dual quad's, it would be really cool to use an early low-rise manifold.
the new wheels look really good. if you haven't got a motor yet there was a running 331 hemi with trans on Craig's list in st, aug if your interested
I would think that with your ford back ground you would have some connections for ford small block ford stuff. If you haven't obtained a motor yet that might be a thing to consider. Changing mounts to a ford setup should not be that difficult or expensive to achieve. There may be some oil pan sump issues? Also it may make firewall modifications easier with the front mounted distributor. I also am considering motor choices for my 31 coupe. A good friend who is a fox body racer pointed this ford in a ford option to me. He runs a 302 type motor in a fox that has similar weight and wheel base as a model A, and really runs well. I have a small block chevy on hand and also a 354 hemi, so that's the way I will go. If you really want a stick shift set it up now. Even if you run a 3 speed ****** until you can upgrade I think you will find it easier to do a good job with your petals linkages etc. than retrofitting later. Just some thoughts on the matter and good luck with your project. Mickey C. from the bayou s
