Well just got in from another half day in the shop "1 car garage" Didnt get as much work done as last weekend but got some stuff that needed to be done. Formed and bent a piece of metal and got the front firewall patched in a spot that needed it badly. Got started added strength in the truck. Also got my rear fender cutouts done so the car could sit at the height I wanted. My dad then hand shaped two U shaped metal strap to do the rear cutout right. One all formed up got em both welded in and really helped the strength and looked great too!!! Lowered the car to where I wanted and I said OH **** thats it!!!! Have to now finish the channel in the rear and get it all ****oned up but the ride height is level and exactly where I wanted which took alot of time to get right. Now the suspension travel also is great and doesnt hit the body thanks to the new cutouts! Doesnt seem like as much got done as last week but the wife had some stuff for me to do this morning like move furniture in the rain gotta love it. Well let me know what you think of the new ride height! I think its perfect with the new 106" wheelbase from last weekend. Pics 1 and 2 are before and after on the firewall patch The rest are getting the rear cutout done and how we made it look and work good

WOW, looks good!! Imagine, when you get a motor in, the front will be just a little lower... think it'll look killer!! Did you just grind the arc of the cutouts?? or did you use any fancy tool to do this?? Just asking because I have to do this to my dashboard too!!
The pic of the cutout is not after it was totally grinded smooth. Forgot to take another picture "was ready to be done, florida's HOT" It looked great when it was all finished. I was just using a grinder to clean it up no fancy tools
Looking pretty sweet. I dig the blackwalls and Ford OEM chromies. I'm liking it so much, that I just might use those on my '31 coupe too.

It took me a while to decide on the wheel/tire combo but it was something you dont see alot or at least I didnt oem chrome with firestone blackwalls deff worth all the research.....look that I love...I have only seen it on the b*** coupe and I think a coupe others but mostly with piecrusts....
Hey White Devil, have you decided on the motor your gonna use. Just food for thought how 'bout a flathead with a five speed from an s-10? btw love the new look and wheels and tires. No matter what motor you choose it's gonna be nice. Nice work indeed...
Im trying to stay away from flatheads "too expensive to make fast" for me...I love the look of a vintage speed part equiped sb. Im still looking around while doing all the work to get it ready for drivetrain. After the floors get finished it should be time to ****on it all up
Go on autozone.com look for any parts that could go bad while driving down the street for a caddy,nailhead,hemi etc...check the availability on them..Goodluck..Then do the same with a SBC. SBC is the only way to go cheap to buy, cheap to build up and they stock parts for them when they need to be fixed. Plus they look good!
did the same type of cutout support on my last sedan,but used 16 gauge,looked great finishes off rough opening,this is a good build!
Well watching the boy today so no time to work on the car but I did get a little present in the mail...my new alliance tag "whitedevil" finally got here!!! Still looking around for a tripower setup to start rebuilding or what not....

Well got some work done tonight. I spent about 4 hrs in the garage and boy does it feel good to make some headway. I got the body final sitting at ride height on new 2x1 member all welded up. Also started getting really into the rear subframe with 2x1. Im going a route that I havent seen before so I will have room for my weld in battery box. Like I said its a little different and kind of a pain with ALOT of measuring and cutting...then cutting all the 45 degrees and making sure everything is square and level. So far im really proud of it though got alot of it welded up just need to finish welding it to the body. About halfway through the work my grinder turned on me and jumped up and bit me...felt really good! Good thing my wife thinks scars add character..and yes I was wearning gloves that now have a nice gash in em. Well heres some pictures.....
Looking good!! So you're putting the battery in on of the holes in the floor?? What about the other side??
The floor is coming out...its what the guy had in it before and its WAY too heavy....have to redo the front supports etc. The battery will be going in the back "the space that I left right behind the rear end where the open square is...thats why I did the rear open like that at the rails...for it to be layed out where I can put the battery down in there with a weld in box and the rear trunk floors can be flat......
Hey Whitey! So, just popped in here... didn't go through you whole thread, peeked in on the last three pages to get an idea of what your doing. Looks good... Didn't see anyone suggest this, so let me. Be prepared while you have the floor open and your crawling all around that floor to put in a nice solid third member. Trust me, you'll need it! What ever drivetrain you put in, you will twist those little hairpins like pretzels when you step on the gas. Put something in there that runs long side the driveshaft and allows the rear to still move correctly. Good luck... Some day I hope to keep off my floor... getting there.
Man Whitey... I actually don't have any pics for once. I just did one too... Someone here will have pics, it is always discussed. Like I said, surprised nobody mentioned it. Cause you need it! Hairpins in the back, are a joke... unless made of chromolly with some nice gussets in the right spot for reinforcement...and always... looks. I used a old Fordson tractor front bone for my last third member, you could use anything really. T front axles look sweet too. Actually...just found a pic. I didn't do this one... but thought the guy was crafty, so saved a pic of it. I like running mine parralel with the drive shaft.... if, I use an open drive, verse the early Ford torque tube, I like that best. I'll see if I can find more pics, but I'm sure others will help with an old thread or something.
Your objective is to keep that pinion angle from moving... a little movent is ok, think you actually want a little as to not snap stuff... done that too. If you have a healthy motor, or a a snappy trans or rear... and all you have are those hairpins, kiss them good bye! Plus all the work your going to do on your bodies floor, or subfloors, etc. You dont wanna dent the driveshaft either....as those ****ers are costly too. Good luck...
