The primary color on the car is going to stay black "satin" the secondary color is just for accents here and there ex. inside frog mouths, some engine component accenting, dash accenting, pinstriping etc. Dont know how the brown will mix with black. The flake is just a thought for some interior stuff nothing exterior...im a ****er for flaked vinyl
Well got some stuff done today while the little man was taking his nap. Got the rear member that I made all finished up and welded in. (completed) Also got the rear upper body mounts cut and tacked in. Got the 32 dash bolted in and the 32 finned dash cluster measured, drilled and bolted on. Need to make my drop column and then my steering column/wheel is ready to go in! Got a good amount of work done today. My 32 insert came in courtesy of a fellow hamber. My grill shell will be here late next week so next weekend will probably be grillshell/insert/radiator moving day if Im not driving to get a motor. Had 2 in the crosshairs and both of them sold before I could get to them. ****s but Im still on the search. Well enough typing heres some update pics....
Im trying...like I have said before Time and Money!!! Ill be working on the coupe while all you guys are going to dixie fried! Billetproof is coming up!
Found some more pics finally... maybe give you more of an idea. Can't believe nobody else has spoke up and said you need these... You do, get on it.
So how is this working when I am not running wishbones that join in one point (split bones) Sorry, not trying to highjack your thread, just curious... Nice work so far!!
Got some more work done on the coupe today. Got the upper rear supports all welded in so the rear is almost done. Also started working on the flooring behind the seat. Got some of the 1x1 mocked up and tacked before my welder ran out of flux. Heres some quick pics...also a pic of my shop buddy
Got the supports cut and welded up behind the seat area so I can close in the trunk. Still have some side supports to make and put in and a couple more to add into the main structure. Got what I could done today. Also got some little details in the chop cleaned up. Overall almost 3 hrs in it today...alot of measuring, cutting, measuring again, making sure everything is level and square, more measuring and welding. This work is the less glorious stuff.....all the visual stuff gets lots of comments but this type of work even though it takes 10 times as longs doesnt get much views...anyone still watchin this build thread??? I take all the pictures for my build book but I dont have to post this type of stuff on here I can move to posting the good stuff...(engine, exterior stuff, and all ***ociated)
He should be fine with the coil-over setup, really...Mel's right, rear 'pin's are pretzel's waiting to happen, if you put the power to the pavement, but, I've broken clevis' before twisting the 'pin's, and thats with slicks... BAD idea w/ such light duty suspension components! He has a panhard, however, w/ the coil-over setup, so, that should limit the "roll" of the housing, in addition to locating the rear side to side. IF he ever hooks it up, though....watch them 'pins...GUSSETS, brutha... GUSSETS....and make sure grade 8's and GOOD clevis'... If you ever REALLY wanna hook it, your standard "Speedway" type mail-order stuff is gonna fail...trust me I put the pinion up into my floor, too..........BUT, it was after the clevis' failed, otherwise, and without traction, they'll probably be o.k. forever... The setup's posted are interesting, though...its cool, when splitting bones, to sort of stand in for the torque tube, correct? Hell, I guess it's doing the job of a panhard bar, too, in locating the axle? I like the looks of the one made from the hairpin...it would be easy to turn it into a driveshaft loop, too, perhaps, and maybe get three functions out of one simple piece of equipment? Hmmmmm......
I am still following the build thats for sure...... im getting ready to tackle a coupe build here before long, so yeah im watching, taking notes and redesigning in my head it is the little monontunus work like this that seems to take forever BUT keep up the awesome work and it wont be long til ur taking that first test hop around the block
Well got anoter hour and a half in during a nap...Got a middle support added and one of the side supports added as well. Just more and more of the same stuff. Well here it is and thanks for all the kind words on the build thread!!!! Its good to see that people are still watching it
Well made a choice finally.....tripower parts are on the way. I got a edelbrock 3x2 and some rochester 2'gs. Im going to make a progressive 3 deuce setup for a sbc. Just thought I would let you know. Still searchin for a 60's 327.
Got some work done today...got the old mock up floor cut out with my new plasma cutter man its like ****er....did I mention that I LOVE IT. Got the side support cut and mounted up so behind the seat supports are all done. Also after I got the floor cut out I started on the flooring and got one member already cut and fully welded in. Also on the front of the car where the ex owner cut the firewall up I made a piece from hand to fill the spot it turned out pretty good still have to make the other side and get them both welded in. My 32 shell will be here tommorow as well as my 3x2 intake. Got the carbs and all I need for progressive on the way too...prob early next week.
wow and you thought the grinder wheels took a nice chunk outta, Wiat til u get in the way on that Plasma....... Lol messing with ya bro.... The Coupe is looking good, that plasma really speeds things up doesnt it... I cant wait for the next couple of weeks to go by so i can hopefully get my coupe and start in on it
Im not going to say that I didnt get some burns through the ol jumpsuit today because I did....deff puts off some slag at times but its totally worth it for the timewarp!!! Im glad I went with the tripower and sbc....I did ALOT of research and alot of looking around talking to guys and it really helped out!!!
Looks good devil. I really liked the tri-power with progressive linkage on my sbc before I changed engines. I think you'll be happy with the way it looks and runs.
Thanks guys for all the support! Dirty I went with a new 3x2 edelbrock intake. Im going with a sbc a whole list of reasons and it will be a little better on the budget as well unless skirv is going to give me his HEMI!!! I just want this car to really be a driver and from all my reasearch the progressive 3x2 will deff. help that with driveabilty and fuel economy as well.
Well some more stuff showed up today! Got my intake (beautiful), 3 frog mouth scoops, grill shell etc. Man its nice to get some stuff in the mail its like christmas EVERYDAY!!! Well Im on shift tommorow but Im going to get some work done sunday (pops is coming over too)...work on my floor some more and get the radiator cut off/moved forward/lowered and remounted.
Lookin good, carefull putting your floor in before seeing where your driveshaft may or may not ride...Dont want to do work 2 times.... been there....hahahaha
