Hot Rods White Walls - Front wheels only?

I run WWW's on the front only on my Merc,and have gotten **** on here for a LOOOOOONG time!hahaha...
I've told the story before,but.....my best friends dad had '41 Ford with skirts back in the 50's,whites on the front only cause his friends called them "floaters". You couldn't see the rear tires at night,so it looked like the car was floating. He also said "blackwalls were cheaper too".

 

I had a white wall spare one time, I dreaded thinking about if I had to use it.

 

I had this combo on my bucket,i bought Firestones with a thin white line but they dissapered on the way from the US to Sweden so i bought these 5,60 Firestones just to have something to put on.
I think it looks ok.

now THATS funny!....and yep, I think it looks like S***, unless you run skirts.

 

Sorry Dean, but it's gonna take more than mismatched tires to make your truck look like ****. I've yet to see a version of it that I didn't like.

Only ran blackwalls on the back on Sundays at Madera drags (with Atlas Bucrons) rest of the time the car had whitewalls on all 4--alot of others did the same

 

Not my preference, can't decide if I wanta paint the M&H's. Saving up for WW cheaters. Peace

Got **** for it...but it was probably better than staying at home....

That's all I'm saying....not everyone WANTS to run the same thing, for whatever personal reasons, life is full of choices. But when someone, from one part of the country says it was NEVER done, even when there is do***entation, "bull-headed-ness" prevails. Sorry fellas.

I respect the hell outta Dean and value his "views" of what happened, in his area, BITD.....his truck kicks *** no matter what tires are on it, but no one man has a monopoly on what is traditional.....

If you don't think "rebelious and anti-establishment" types have rules, you haven't been paying attention.

We ran down to John's Drive In one night in '62, in the channeled Model A Coupe... car was shiny black, black rims, whitewalls & baldys. We were lookin' for a race with some wiseacre from WillowGlen with the 'fastest '57 Chevy in town'...(weren't they all?)
I had thrown a pair of '50 Lincoln wheels on back, with some black 7.60 Bucrons... No caps on back, baldys didn't fit the Linc wheels. Obviously temporary.
Only questions we got were, "Goin' racin' tonight? Tenth Street? What time?"
In our little corner of the Calif world, people generally knew what was up. But this was in 1962 San Jose.

 

this is racing... and it runs a blown flatty as i know!

If it was mine I would buy a can of high quality tire black from a place that supplies automotive paint and make them all black.
