A friend gave me these white walls off his t-bird and I put them on my '46. What do you guys think? Do you like with or without the White walls?
I think trucks need blackwalls and contrasting colored wheels than the body to make 'em pop. No trim rings necessary. There were no Gentleman Jim pickups until the late 60s when pickups became cars.
I always liked the trim rings because they were on it when I pulled it out of the hedge row. I think the hubcaps are 47 chrysler. They are smooth like a baby moon. Still can't decide if I like the WW or not. Kind of makes the ol' 46 look like a pussy.
Looks more like a work horse with the black walls, it looks a little more classy with the whitewalls. I think it would look better with Bias ply wide whites.
I've always thought old trucks look too plain with blackwalls, just like a work truck. IMO those ww tires dress it up and make it look pretty cool. You are either a ww guy or not..........and I am. Don
Trucks with white walls make me think of a ranch hand, dressed for the Friday night social. What the hell, leave 'em on. Looks good.
Yes it IS a nice truck. The www's look more showy, the bw's look more hardcore "I'm a truck!" kinda vibe. More work-oriented.
Thanks for the compliments guys, I think i will leave them on for a while and maybe "gussy up" for a friday night on the town. Yahoo!
Same question different truck. I'm a chrome and whitwall sort of guy. Who cares if some think we are a pussy. Pussy is good and that truck looks nice either way. Classier with white walls. Like in the fender skirt debate, leave two blackwalls on one side and park in different directions now and then. Or suck up and keep the whitewalls. I'll bet it gets more attention with them. And you can still haul gravel or cement blocks all you want.
Yeah, the whitewalls add a 'touch of class'...I ran whitewalls with red wheels and '50 Merc ashcans/trimrings for awhile in the '70s...(my '55 F100) A bud told me all I needed were stacks! I then showed him where I welded up the holes where the original owner ran the stacks up thru the running boards...when the truck was brand new! Trucks are like women. They all have a history...
As a kid, we hung out in gas stations. The gas station guy near me always had a new fancy trimmed red pickup with whitewalls that was always immaculate. Whitewalls look like successful businessman. Blackwalls look like an economy model. Everybody I knew ran whitewalls unless you had a flat and the spare was a blackwall.
Stuwdecky... I think the white walls dress your truck up nice... I was on the fence... just bought a 46 Dodge WC Pickup Truck... your photos of your amazing truck convinced me... they pop nice!!! I have a few questions about the Dodge... let's talk soon!! Dave
I say blackwalls only because I want to buy the whitewalls from you for my Hudson. Personally I do like the whitewalls. Adds a little pop to it.
I had www on my truck. I drove everyday hauling material for the customers jobs. I have switched to bw radials now, but i liked the www look.
whitewalls make the truck pop,,they look great,,I'll be getting some once I wear my blackwall..i just was not sure when I was putting things together
