Man its in the 60's today just got back from a little cruise with the wife and son...what a beautiful day
W.D. that was a nice thing to do for your POP. I've alway's liked the 56 over the 55 or 57 chevy's and brother you found a very nice 1 at that. i hope your fortunate enough to keep that old car long enough to p*** her down to your youngone...POP.
Well I have driven the car everyday since I have owned it.....(minus my fire station shift days) Was a beautiful day to drive it to church with my son and wife in tow
Well the new project is underway...at least the part buying!!!! A 1955 pedal car for my little man! The shell will be here tommorow and the wheels are bought and the slicks are in the mail...its should be pretty sweet! Thats my current project and I WILL post losts of pictures Im going to have it done by the time he turns two..(end of april) BUilding a custom frame etc...pretty excited!
Great car, happy looking kid...I think you might want to check the thermostat (or lack of) 160-170 actually is running a little too cool, IMO. I like to see my cars at 190 to 200. They run better and last longer that way.
Thanks for the advice...it actually runs about 180-190 PS parts should be showin up for the pedal car today and tomorrow along with a smaller blower pulley and more blower parts for the 56....never thought I would be so excited about building a pedal car!!!!!
WhiteDevil, being a 56 owner myself i never liked the look of no side trim. Just seems to mess with the 1/4 panel purportions for me. But your car is a differant deal altogether. I really like it!
Well my sons 55 chevy is in....heres some pics before modification...waiting for the 4'' slicks to come in so I can start the narrowing of the rear...might leave the pizza cutters up front and paint em to match...its going to be hunter mettalic like my car and his will have two 4'' aircleaners on the hood and a nice gauge pod up front as well...a bunch of little stuff. Right now Im going to beef everything up but leave the front suspension alone because after seeing him in it hes going to want a pedal car not just a push car! Ill make a rod/handle so I can push him around as well...HE LOVES IT!!! To say the least
Finally rebuilt the blower all the way and got rid of the god forsaken black paint on the blower took forever but it was well worth it have a before and after pic of the blower. Did some work on my sons 55 too! Slicks came in got the gauges out and the twin cleaners as well. On the 56 I also changed the blower pulley to a 2.85 and boy does it scream...from 2 psi to around 4-5psi.....OH YEAH
Hey WhiteDevil love your car! What BRENT is probably asking is what also goes through my mind. To many of us the Edelbrock "Elite" series of accessories is the about the sadest example of a once great company gone to the dogs. Let me explain. In the late 70s a gifted machinist named John ****era needed a set of tall plain valve covers for his new mostly machined from billet street rod. He made them out of machined parts that he bolted together with a myriad of little allen screws. At about the same time people started to use 3 piece wheels made by BBS and Compomotive. They were also ***embled using little allen bolts and nuts to a machined from billet center. Whoever was in charge of marketing at Edelbrock saw this new "Billet" trend and realized where the industry was going. Of course the product had to be cheap to sell and make a profit hence the fake bolts on your valve covers. There are so many great looking SBC valve covers out there. Early Cal Customs look great on a G***er or maybe no name cover from Mooneyes to name a few. Please do not take this negatively. I always enjoy your posts and want only the best for you! VonWegener
I dont take any opinions in a negative way!!!!! All it takes to make a "perfect car" is time and MONEY!!! SO ship me some finned covers for free and well be ALL SET!!!!
Good Point! We are all mere disciples of the filthy lucre. I am sure that you will find some cool covers down the road. Good things come to good people.
After cleaning up that blower (good move btw, it looks rad raw) those covers stick out like sore thumbs that distract from the important stuff... like that Weiand blower! Maybe they'd fit in on an Iroc Z but, but in a cl***y engine bay they don't fit. I'm really digging this car and the changes you're making to make it your own.
I love the old cal custom finned valve covers...money...but what air cleaner flows on a mid 50s car with an engine like this. I havent seen anything that really FLOWS with maybe a 60's vibe???
