I scuffed my tires a bit today [IMG] Looks pretty*****py-any ideas for cleaning/fixing the scuff marks, aside from a new tire?

    Thanks!

if its just scuffed, westley's white wall bleach, and a stiff brush will do miracles. if its actually gouged into the white wall, then i dunno.

Great! Thanks for the input. It's a pretty good size scuff mark, you can actually feel it in a few places [IMG] I've got to park a bit more carefully.......

I use Simple Green degreaser on my whitewalls to clean them up. It works great, and doesn't have the bleach in it that can damage the rubber. An older guy at the local cruise night told me that they used a sharpening stone for knives to clean scuff marks from the whitewalls. I haven't tried it, but he swears it works.

Comet and a green kitchen scotchbrite pad.

Always worked like a dream while I had my '69 Impala on spokes.

If itt's really scuffed bad, use some 180 grit wet sandpaper with wesley's and water and smooth it out...you can also do this if they are stained really bad. Castrol Purple Clean (or whatever the name is) works good too. Dark spots can be cleaned with lacquer thinner as well...

    Brillo pad.
    The old fashioned kind.
Use once, toss it, because it's steel wool and it'll rust.
    Nutin better.

I will also say wesleys bleech white...

Its all I use, just spary it on when the tire is dry, let it sit a second, then get on it with a scrub brush....Ive curbed my whitewalls more than too many times, and some really really bad ones.... and they look pretty much like new still. Had em for about 6 years now... Its all you need.

Not to steal this post or anything but I just got some whitewalls from coker tire. When I tried to clean them with comet and a brush the white started to rub away on the edges. WTF?? Anyone got an idea why? Just thought I'd let ya know incase this happens to you. [IMG]
