We watched 'A Christmas Story' last night for the hundredth time. I never really noticed how many cool cars are hiding in that movie. Dad's looks like an Olds? In the spot next to the house where the kids play there's a T and Sedan body lying around too... Lots of traffic shots with old cars....
They done a good job on making that movie with the cars and other details but the Radio Flyer wagons and maybe the tricycles in the toy department were 60s to 70s versions but other then those they get a A plus.
One reason for the authenticity of the cars, was because Jean Shepard was a gear head, writing a monthly column in "Car & Driver" magazine. Mick

I know a family that has been re gifting the same fruitcake to different family members for over 50 years. TRADITION!
I really like this, but if I tried to duplicate this, it would be a double whammy... I'd be hanging right beside the dummy. I HATE ladders!
............Whoa guys, obviously you've never had real fruitcake, not the store bought stuff, but home-made. My dear maternal Grandmother always made 5 or 6 each Fall. She grew and dried her own fruit, none of that gelatinous stuff from the store. She would place them lovingly in cake tins, wrapped in cheescloth, and each week leading up to the holidays, would open each one and drizzle moonshine over the cake inside. She would give most away as gifts, but when she cut the first one for the Family at Thanksgiving, the aroma alone would almost make you drunk. They were always moist and delicious and I would give anything to have one of hers today. Sadly, she passed in 1961. Now, don't get me started on her Pineapple Upside down Cake baked in an Iron Skillet.
My grandmother made a really good fruit cake also. From what I remember, everything she baked was outstanding. They are a lot of work to prepare so my mom bought one every year from an Italian market. It was decent but not as good as her moms.
Yes I would love to have some of my Grandma’s cooking too. She added a lot of love and a little shine as well.

My company makes some kitchen stuffs for Zhenders in Frankenmuth, one of which is called stollen bread. It's a fresh baked bread, but has fresh fruit in it similar to fruitcake, but it's absolutely insanely delicious. (To all of you Michiganders, go to Zhenders and eat a lot. Make me some money! Lol.). I just took my whole family, parents in laws and all up to Frankenmuth last week to the Waterpark. Hit Bronners Christmas store, had some amazing dinners. It was awesome. At Christmas, no other town like it.
