I'm looking at purchasing a Model A tudor and was wondering what's the best transport company to use. For years and years, I used Kiwi Kar Karriers out of Washington state. They were awesome, but unfortunately, they've gone out of business. Lynn from Kiwi recommended R.A.M, but i can't get in touch with them. The car isn't totally perfect, so it doesn't have to go in an enclosed trailer. So, who's got the best reputation and the best price that's insured, licensed, etc. Thanks
i've had good experiences with FedEx... seriously. they farm out the transport, but it all goes through their system and it's insured/licensed/etc.
I had a horrible experience with P***port Transport. They had one excuse after another and ended up missing their deadline by several days and causing my seller to change his travel plans. These companies would be content to drag your car all over the country constantly looking for another car to pick up even if it keeps getting your car farther and farther from home. The driver had a real at***ude when he arrived and chewed me out! They **** and I will never use them again.
The HAMB Odex has all you need, Ben D, Rick (racinman) and Bill (Bills Autoworks) have all hauled for me with excelent results!
Many variables with this like fuel prices, car location, car condition, destination, weather, at***ude, equipment, price etc. Over all I've had good results with numerous companies.
IIrc P***port was bought out several years ago by united van lines . its not the same people as it was in the 1990's
I recommend Thomas Sunday - they moved several historic cars for me from California to Michigan - Excellant service
I've used BenD and Racinman here on the HAMB. Reliable nice fellows who do what they say and don't try to make a delivery at 2 in the morning.
I have used Ben D (T&A Transport here on the HAMB O'Dex) on several occasions and have been extremely pleased with his service. He is reliable and will haul parts, bodies, engines and non-running cars as well as those which run and drive. Ben is the best and comes highly recommended by H.A.M.B members on the HAMB O'Dex. Call him before you enguage any other hauler.
Having used BenD and racinman I can ***ure you both are as reliable as you will find and both are hambers. I haven't used Bills Autoworks or Truly Vintage but I have always heard high praise for both of these guys also. You are a Hamber so why not use a hamber? HRP
Truly Vintage has a very informative way of conveying where he is and what opportunities for transport he has at this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...aul-ship-latest-available-routes-here.931617/ Click the "Watch Thread" and then click the with email option and watch it for a week or so and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about.
I have always used Rick (Racinman) Powell for my hauls. Nothing but praise for the man. As others have said, the Hamb-O-Dex is your friend.
I used Intercity Lines to move my 31 from Michigan, it was fully enclosed and I would highly recommend them. I lucked out as they had a nearly full load going to the PNW. Had a hard time finding someone going this way.
Thanks everyone for the very informative replies! I will definitely call the companies that are mentioned. Thanks again!!
Thanks ! Now I keep my Profile Page updated to let folks now where I am headed to next: @ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/members/trulyvintage.55583/ Jim Thanks for the post ! My last two HAMBer Hauls: Jim
I'm having a car shipped now, after it gets here I can tell you who not to use. The current delivery is being done by someone who came highly recommended. Definitely best to avoid those brokers who give out a lowball quote. Is there a standard rate per loaded mile? I'm just curious.
