And don't just tell me I can d.i.y. it- I know. I polished my own manifold and all of the stainless on my car and it took way, way, way longer than I could have imagined. I have too many other other projects going so I want to see if I can just send this thing out to somebody and get it done. It's an old edelbrock cast aluminum with fins for an oddball motor that took me two years to find - pretty rare - so I don't want it screwed up by someone who has never seen an engine part before. Any recomendations?
duh? I thought he was in England- since the company is called "English Custom Polishing" I sent him a price request. Any other recomendations closer to the west coast would be appreciated.
Actually, it looks like the HAMB's polisher sells polishing supplies but doesn't do the work. . . so bttt. . . anyone?
Well, I'm in a bad mood, so I guess I'll be a dick... I have polished quite a bit of stuff myself, and in the time you've sit here waiting for an answer, you COULD have done it yourself... Sorry... just my .02
Dick! Nah, I know where you are coming from But I don't need to justify this to anybody and I'm not asking for sympathy about too much work. . . . I take on a lot projects- cars and real world stuff and I manage my time the best I can- I have a lot of real world stuff right now I just asked for recomendations - got any?
robert, i am checkin for ya for someone local......wanted to see who my buds use and are happy with ........
I would think you could just look in the yellow pages for "metal finishing" and find someone. They'd just throw 'em in a big tumbler and they come out shiny... Shouldn't cost much, and there's NO chance of damage from the process (unless they drop 'em or something! )
Polisher's in Maine, even though his company is called "English Custom Polishing". Don't take everything so literally. Gatorade isn't made from real gators, either.
Aw man, I've got some 40+ year-old Mooneyes valve covers on my Y-block. All id did was to take the crap off with a slight;ly abrasive polishing wheel & went at 'em with Mother's. Took me a coupla hours
just a thought here....If headers that have been "jet hot coated" are polished by vibrating them in a special solution(I am not sure what they use..talcum powder maybe). How would old aluminum valve covers that are in nice shape other than being dull, come out by doing the same thing to them. The hot coated headers are dull till they are vibrated, then they look like chrome... Dale
yep, I polish, I chrome, I make polish, I'm English (kinda), I'm in Maine, and I use a vibratory polisher, when-ever the parts fit. They work great on aluminum, brass and soft metals, and with the right media work on hard metals too. (I actually want a bigger one.) Vibratory polishers are quite slow but will give a finish which only needs a light buff to finish it, and they make a great place for storing small nuts and bolts. So when I do a job with a load of little bits, I throw them in the vibrator, forget about them while I do the rest. Thought I answered the enquiry, but I had a big time computer crash.

I did my own, but I've also had advanced plating www.advancedplating.com in Nashville, TN do some plating, powdercoating & polishing for me. They're extremely reliable and are very comfortable doing mail-order work. Their prices seem high at first, but no more than other top-quality shops. You get what you pay for.
