You want good, or do you want cheap?

Good is Vernes Chrome Plating. Excellent quality, not cheap. 1559 W El Segundo Blvd, Gardena, CA 90249, (323) 754-4126

Cheap is bumper boyz in Long Beach. Not great, but occasionally they do something well. Cheapest dippers in SoCal.

Do I have to tell you who I prefer?

Vernes' prices get better if you bring more in. Doing bits and pieces is expensive, but if you bring in a lot it'll be cheaper in the long run. I don't know about you, but my stuff was worth the extra few dollars.

Notice Scotch didn't give you an address or phone for BumperBoys...
That tells ya how much he's recommending them.
I might buy a bumper from them exchange if I saw the bumper and checked it out and swapped it in person. They swap "done" bumpers at swap meets. But I've hearedmany stories on here about what you get back if you send your own stuff in to get plated.

    Another option is...
    Do you speak Spanish?

Hey there is a way old school chrome plater in LA they do all of PRO one harley parts in bulk there.
the thing is that it is better if you take your items in bulk. I'll try to get the name later or PM me.
Don't leave your stuff at a chrome plater that asks you what that is for, because some asshat plater charge depending on what it's for, I always say "for my 82 Honda

There is a place in Santa Fe Springs called Foss Plating that does commercial plating that is both good and inexpensive. But you have to bring them a truckload of parts for them to consider doing the job. They're used to doing large lots of parts, so if you show up with a motorcycle kickstand, they'll laugh you right out of the office. Best thing to do is get a couple of buddies to throw all of their parts into the truck then take the whole load over. The more you bring, the cheaper it gets (when you figure the per-piece price out).

It depends, do you ever want your shit back?

Me: "Are my door panel mouldings, headlight rings or turnsignals done yet?"

Robert at Bumper Boyz- "The parts got lost in the tank, i'll get replacements next week. Call me in 10 days."

I have had really good luck with CUSTOM CHROME off of Cherry and South Streets in Long Beach. They charge about 1/2 the price of Bumper Boyz, and the chrome actually stays on the parts.

I once saw some FLAWLESS bumpers on a '66 Coronet hemi car (factory). Along with every other piece of brightwork that was flawless. The guy told me that the plating was done by Lemon Grove Plating in National City (San Diego area). This was 10 years ago.

I have been told that Central Plating in El Monte does decent work, and that they also will work with you if you want to do all the finw prep-work in between plating steps. I.E. you sand to a sheen, they dip the copper, you polish that to a sheen, they dip the nickle, you buff that out, they dip the chrome. Or whatever the process is, but you get the idea-- since the prep work is what makes or breaks a chrome job, just as with a paint job, this is where you could get beautiful chrome for a very reasonable price-- if you ain't a lazy bum.
