This is when my wife really gets mad at me. I bring small car parts into the family room to work on as the garage is way to cold. how many of you work on your car inside the house when it is this cold?

The thing with the cold and snow is how you deal with it. If all you have is a shovel then yeah, it's going to suck. If you go and buy a cheap walmart snow blower then things get better, but you'll soon realize that small is not good.

My truck does not have a remote car starter though I think that is going to change soon. The GF does and she never has to get into a cold car.

I love the snow, the deeper the better. Nothing like having an excavating company at your disposal to make clearing snow a breeze... a shovel sucks, a Cat loader is fun... It's all how you deal with it...

I put up with it. Why not. I love snow. I like shovelin and plowin, playin with the dogs in the snow, I mean it's there so try to enjoy it. No? Well then there's only one cure. I have 2 doses. One is about 110HP and the other is 170HP. They both have a 'Rat Fink' decal on em to watch over me. Nothin like screamin 120+MPH at 8500RPMs...WOOOOOO HOOOooo.

Snow can be fun at times.Got 4 wheel drive, snowy roads, driving sideways throwing snow rooster tails.Out in the sticks the hillbillies line up on a country road for midnight snow drag races in assortment of trucks and Jeeps.Cold weather makes ya be aware of danger and tough driving conditions.Carry a blanket and a candy bar in vehicle cause if you fall off the road at night in the middle of nowhere you can fuckin freeze dead.

Yes,cellphones have reduced the danger some,of course you might be stranded where there's poor reception.
Coming in out of the cold and in front of the woodstove. Then getting under the blankets nude with your woman.
Then starting the truck on a super cold morning, like George Carlin used to say "the starter motor says, no,no,no......no.......no.............."

Aw man, those old Honda's get no respect!:(

  17. They just "upgraded" us to a Blizzard warning. S'posed to get about a foot of snow tonight into tomorrow with 25-50mph winds. Glad the '56 is tucked away & REALLY glad the daily driver is 4-wheel drive.
    I'm trying to remember why I don't live in AZ . . .

Today it was -1* at 6 am. Now, at noon, it's a whole 18* above. Wahoo! Driving the '34 to work today. I park it, get out, and one of my co-workers said " Since when have you been homeless?" guess it was the two coats, hoodie, hat, gloves and BIG boots.

  19. Jeez, couldn't you at least have made room for THEM indoors? I can only assume you let the old cars rot outside because of space restrictions. But, Hondas can almost fit in a closet. No excuse for that one:confused:

True, cell phones have helped, and in ND reception is ok in cities, and spotty in rural areas... That is why we are prepared to be stranded. MRE for food, heavy blankets for warmth... But to have an extra cell phone charger, sometimes you can't find the one you always use, but if you have a dedicated emergency one to plug in to the cig lighter then at least you might be able to call or text once things improve... Someone is bound to find you if you can hold out...

I can't imagine anyone getting shit done in that icebox town.

I mean WTF reason would persuade anyone to go outside and "do work"?

It rained almost a 1/2 inch here last night and everything got wet. This is like the third time this year. But "YOU HAVE TO SUFFER IF YOU WANT TO SING THE BLUES"

  26. The 6-7 months that it is like this is why we HAVE to go outside to do work. If you didn't go outside when it was cold you would never get anything done.:D

  27. Yipes.

    Here's how stupid I am:

In '84 I was living in Iowa and had a choice between moving to (a) Florida or (b) Edmonton. I chose Florida. No, that's not the stupid part. Here's the stupid part: after 4 years in Florida and 9 years in Austin TX, I had the brilliant notion to move back to the Midwest snowbelt.

12 years later, and I still ritually punch myself in the nuts every time I fire up the snow blower.
