I'm not especially fond of chrome. My excuse has always been that chrome weighs more than paint and I'm a go fast junky. But the out'n'out truth is that I don't like to take the time with the chromer or spend the money. Chrome accents are very cool even on a Rod. All chromed out is an entirely different story, but a little splash here and there is cool.
If and/or When I win the lotto, I'll do the WHOLE 36 in chrome. All of it. Till then.. On my Rod Some is chrome cool..... Billet Bites.... Polished Aluminum is for trailer queens. My 2 cents worth...
Chrome is like wrapping a hot chick in tin foil...it's got a certain charm, But I'm all for appreciating the natural texture and beauty!
Chrome is hard stuff and protects the underlying metal. The layer of chrome plating on an object is extremely thin. Chrome is a very stable finish. Copper plating prepares the substrate to recieve the chrome by filling low spots and imperfections.
Who cares? It's all personal preference anyway. Hmmm ... I think some rattle can red wheels would be the perfect accent to the flat black bumpers on this car!
